Hi guys, thinking of diving into Necromunda and picking up Dark Uprising - a quick look though seems to suggest a sprawl of books are out as well.
What do I basically need to get going - I'm not too bothered about picking up any of the books that are current but don't want to be doubling up on stuff that's obsolete.
Cheers!

Have you decided on a gang yet? Dark Uprising is good if you want to play Corpse Grinder Cult or Palanite Enforcers (or want the terrain!), but you'll also need their 'faction' book - so either Book of Ruin or Book of Judgement. If you're looking at another gang you might be better off with just the rulebook and Gangs of the Underhive (or House of Chains for Goliath). House of Blades, the Escher book, has been pushed back to Q3 -

Hi, thanks for the reply. I'm pretty certain I'll be playing Escher as already got the old metal gang and new plastic kit. The reason I was looking at Dark Uprising was I want the terrain and the minis as well so thought it was a good option as long as the rulebook in it allows me to play the full game.
It's the other books that have confused me, so House of Blades would be an essential pick up regardless for me when it releases, do I need a core rulebook for the Escher or does the Dark Uprising one cover them?

The books are a mess. The separate rulebook doesn't include any gangs and the Dark Uprising rulebook has cut-down rules for Corpse Grinder Cult & Palanite Enforcers. Escher are currently in Gangs of the Underhive, but that list will be replaced by House of Blades (when it comes out).

Cheers
So would it be safe to go with Dark Uprising, the core rulebook and House of Blades for me playing as Escher if I wanted all the rules for the game, then my gang specific and Dark Uprising essentially as my pick of starter set based on preference?

Dark Uprising includes a rulebook, so with just that you can learn to play with the Corpse Grinder Cult & Palanite Enforcers. You can then either get their books to expand them (Book of Ruin / Book of Judgement) or House of Blades for Escher.

The Dark Uprising rulebook completly supercedes the old rulebook apart from the missions and is errata'd. So if you're okay to play the pretty chaos-themed Dark Uprising missions you won't need the old rulebook.
House of Chains however does not include rules for the trading post, so House of Blades likely will not as well. The equipment-lists are pretty extensive in the new book in comparison to Gangs of the Underhive, so it's not a must but if you want to go all out you should consider it as well.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too! |

The books are a total trainwreck. Stay away from as many as possible of them. Instead, you can go to certain places (discord for example) and find a much better fan document with corrections to the many mistakes found in original books.

Pretty much did this myself, picked up a lot of modern but older style Delaque gangers since I prefer that to the new aesthetic. Was going to just use them for other games since, but my buddy and I just downloaded the Necromunda: Community Edition... and that is far better than trying to sort of the mess of books/supplements/cards we need to play Newcromunda.
Pretty happy with the models I bought though, like that about half of them have weapon options.

Forge World under any other name is still Forge World and they just cannot fathom why they would ever want to hire a proofreader.
