Many of the stretch goals are for inclusion in the core book (all the gang rules, "extra art", etc.), so I don't think you're correct on your assumption that none of the stretch goals are expected this year.

It is quite possible that other models might be expected later, but the Kickstarter page does not say this, either.

Edit: Also, the Lawjack stretch goal to be included in every box set definitely would be a part of the targeted delivery. Now, that said, very probable they've already got that sculpted and molds cast, so not a huge risk for delay from that one.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Though I did miss a section in the Risks part (and via reply just now) that some of the models indeed will be a later shipping date, mainly the ones that haven't been sculpted yet (which are mostly the ones that aren't yet unlocked anyway).

So not as high a risk, but I still think December for the core with the stuff that should be included in the book yet is optimistic. Possibly doable tho.

I agree. I'd be surprised with december but I think that if this was something where he controlled most of the production, like privateer, it would be more attainable. But he doesn't and the biggest delay really will be print. But their printer is US based I believe so maybe it will be less of an issue.

Yup, saw that he's doing all production (which I assume is also printing) in the US, so that does make the timeline a little less risky. A lot of that might depend on the time left to do layout and get that to the printers, and what their turnaround time is, but if US based it won't be the 6+ weeks a print run in China would be.

A fair amount of how the crowdfunded sausage is made with today's update. The TLR is that the add on models will be in metal and $10 each with maybe a discount for whole gang packs of 5 for $40.

This paragraph looks likes it's a short at Catalyst who's known for refusing to pay contractors, specfically artists, after getting the final art peice.

A second, but no less important reason (to us), is that we pay people well. We pay all our sculptors, artists, freelance writers, and editors at the rate they chose. Our pricing ensures we can deliver on our promises as well as paying our artists a fair price up front, covering the costs of not just the initial Kickstarter, but keeping Gangs on an even footing once the Ks is fulfilled. But if you ask anyone who has worked with us this year - they will tell you we've delivered on our promises. So you can trust us to do the same.

Probably not just at Catalyst, but several other publishers are known to either stiff people or pay less than their market rates, with promises of "exposure." I 100% back Fraggin Unicorns on that (and do the same with my own contractors).

I heard there was some big issue back in IIRC 4th edition with lots of their creators not being paid allegedly but I didn't know that potentially was still an issue. I don't really follow them too closely and just recently got back in.

I just watched their interview on Ontabletop and he said they negotiated a rate with their freelancers or gave them the option to take a cut of the profits. Offering someone a share to do free work seems sketchy to me in this industry. He also claimed that he’s not worried about money but is not sure if he should even have done this project. The people behind this are working on it as well as their normal jobs and they are projecting a December 2020 fulfillment?

As cool as it would be to get more Shadowrun models, I can’t help but see red flags.

They did it with 6th edition too. The first time it was because they claimed they couldn't pay anything due to some embezzlement I believe (https://geek-related.com/2010/04/17/catalyst-games-defiant-criminals/). Fun fact the guy who did it still works there. With 6th they refused to pay any artist that was fairly new to the industry claiming that they were going to get paid in exposure and experience.

That's unfortunate to hear... and it's probably best that we not dwell on it here (and admitting my own contribution in commenting on it).

To be frank, for all the nostalgia of Shadowrun, the concept can be done better. I'll give this a fair try.

Honestly, as much fun as I've been having with Reality's Edge and Necromunda, I may give this game a try.

I've been really enjoying "Miniatures-Agnostic" gaming as of late, and my own personal project for gaming follows the same concept.

Daily update came in. The project has hit $50k and apparently that was the number needed to recoup their initial costs of development so that portion of funding is now going to other things... no idea what/if that will translate to in the immediate (i.e. duration of the campaign) future in regards to concrete benefits for backers. New verbal descriptions of gang pack add ons (prices TBD) that were unlocked in the first $50k plus the addition of an STL vehicle pack (no miniatures, 3d model only). Plus some added social stretch goals as well as links to tabletop simulator gameplay examples from the Beast of War/OnTabletop youtube channel. It also looks like some of the more expensive pledge levels where you get to design a gang/character on paper or even a miniature have been taken as well.

Update overnight but nothing earthshattering... Just some added art forstretch goals previously only shown in silhouette as well as some initial unpriced add on gang box contents that are still subject to change. A basic rules document is also coming likely with the next update today or tomorrow.

It took a few days longer than initially stated but the rules preview went up on dropbox with the latest update along with some updated art pics of various creatures.

Some info from the latest update. The recently unlocked Croyote stretch goal has become a kickstarter exclusive and a free one will be included with every box if the funding reaches $75k. More updates as to the timetable now that they have some initial stretch goal unlock info with emphasis added by me:

Here and there, we are getting questions and comments about our December date for estimated fulfillment. We agree it is optimistic, but we also think it is doable. First, the December date is only for the two-player starter sets and the terrain. As noted on our main page, the sculpts that aren't unlocked yet will take a bit more time, but not too much, we hope. In addition, the sculpts for the 2 player set are already done and ready for manufacturing, and all that manufacturing is being done in the US, so we are confident we will have them ready as soon as we know numbers.

Not much to update in the past couple of weeks as it was the mid-campaign lull but a few stretch goals were shifted around and some new concept art posted before the final stretch.

The campaign is almost within the last 24 hour period so hopefully it'll see a decent sized bump to unlock a few more models.

Ugh. Talk about nickel and diming consumers to death with $10 minis. I hated that about zombicide and they set a horrible KS precedent with such crappy marketing.

Those prices make me glad gw is around, and that's a shocking statement to make about gw price comparisons. I want to support more skirmish games like necromunda, but this gets the hard and prejudiced pass from me.

And funded at a final total of $61k. While I'm glad it didn't backside and funded well above the initial goal, I actually unpledged a while back. I wasn't particularly enthralled with any of the minis and only tepidly liked three or so but I was hoping that the unlocks would be more to my liking. When that wasn't the case, I backed out (in addition other platform specific reasons unrelated to this project specifically). Regardless, congratulations to those who pledged and I hope it turns out to your liking.
