Artwork is nice enough, the kids are a good addition, nice scatter... remains to be seen if the buildings look more like the shown Fachwerk tower (good) or the shown stone walls (bad).
Also not sold on this "28mm"... if it's true 28mm, not sure I'm gonna get the townsfolk. They looked tiny in the renders.

It's a testament to Prodos that I'm pretty excited for this despite having a 3d printer and absolutely no use for another generic medieval village.

They keep saying eventually but it's only being offered as an add on to the new KS so far and with D&L 3 coming up that may continue for awhile. Best option for now is to stick $1 into the D&L3 KS to get access to the PM then buy whatever you want that's already made and they'll ship it about 2 weeks after the PM closes as it's already made.

I don't think you even have to put anything on the KS. Just go to Gamefound and I think you can order from there (Last I looked, if you went to Archon's "store", it redirected to Gamenfound for ordering).

It never ends well

I just missed the live stream for D&L3. Anything of interest?

Add yourself to the KS "Notify Me" to unlock some pre-launch SG's!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/archonstudio/dungeons-and-lasers-third-edition

I really hope they redesign those stairs. They were a nightmare to assemble and get rid of the seam!

Otherwise, if you're looking for village accessories, they should be good and inexpensive. Even if you pass on the walls and floors, you can buy the SG's as an add-on.

You can also pick up previous D&L sets and SG's. You can select additional shipping for them to send previous stuff sooner.

You can rewatch the live stream here

D&L 3 Livestream VOD

They've redesigned the stairs so they can reach half levels now as well - both stone and wood versions 27 minutes in.

They've also redesigned the castle crenellations so they look more realistic and less lego like. Skip to around 47 minutes to see a test building (made with older designs).

D&L2 had something stupid like 10 sprues of bitz for $20, can't go wrong with that. Tho I wonder if they can maintain the momentum, there might come of a time when people decide they have enough plastic walls.

So... the townsfolk turned out to be 4 regiments of humans for massed battles for like $40? I'm okay with this.

My plan is to just throw in 200€ to help unlock stuff and decide what to get later.

They will be adding extra townsfolk in the stretch goals that's just the starter set. I'd be surprised if the townsfolk starter set is $40 on it's own more like $20-$25 given it's 1 of 7 sets for the €85($99) pledge. They did say it would also be an add on.

I'm hoping they allow multiples of the €85 pledge level with multiple sets of stretch goals like they did with D&L2 as the value is in the stretch goals.
2 x Village pledge = 10 rooms, 2 townsfolk starters & 2 Stretch goal sets vs. Town pledge = 11 rooms, 1 townfolk starter and 1 stretch goals. There will be other pledge levels when it goes live.

I don't understand what a "room" is in the pledge levels.

The townsfolk look amazing. They are in HIPS plastic right? (I can use plastic glue)

Any indications on the scale? Are these Perry true 28mms or GW Empire size?

I think a room is effectively a bundle of stuff on a particular theme (eg sewer)

Yes they're in HIPS

don't know on scale (unless there's a figure sample in with the D&L 2 deliveries that will be starting soon

Everything is HIPS plastic including the townsfolk. No idea how they scale they haven't said anything other than 28mm.

Each of these = 1 room worth of content (they used the term from D&L2)

The Royal Castle
Wooden Cottage
Tudor Mansion
Stone Tower
Town Sewers
City Streets

Village pledge lets you pick any 5 in any combination (could be the same 5). Extra rooms sold for $20 each in D&L2.

Fantasy Core Set is not a room it's a bigger add on kit sells for $40

Thank you. That pledge looks very attractive.

Fingers crossed the minis scale will not be historical but fantasy scale.

Three sprues of one room set. A room set sprue has one long floor, one square floor, one long wall, two short walls and one open doorway. Each room set sprue is identically formatted but with different details according to the set. All the themed detail for a room set is on one sprue tool.

Each room set pack, is accompanied by one sprue of clips, though with D&L2 there are different clips added so you may get an extra clip sprue, or a different one.

For two room sets you can have one core set, which has considerably more stuff by price, but only with the default dungeon or industrial theme. You can make entire structures/dungeons just from room sets, and you get the same architecture but with less value for money. All items are interchangable physically, and may or may not fit by theme according to your narrative. You are not obliged to make structures out of one set, you can have accents of one set in another.

Heroic scale compatible, it works with 40K and WHFB miniatures fine, however it also works with true scale 28mm. Pressed to a choice I would call the sets heroic 28mm, as must stuff more closely matches that scale, but it would not look amiss with true scale. However 25mm or 32mm would be a stretch, but again it depends on which piece. Generic stone walls and arches can be any scale.

The furnishings on the other hand are fairly chunky and work best with 28mm scale.

The value is insane. The guard alone is 3 regiments of 18 and 9 cavalry. That's like 80€ even from Mantic.

Sorry if this has been answered earlier in the thread, but this KS is just fantasy buildings, right? Will participating in it give access to sci-fi sets from previous D&L kickstarters on the pledge manager?

No all they've said is it's coming later basically to stop people asking for it during the Woodhaven KS

Scale pic for those asking - I only have the Starcide sample set they sent out so this is the closest I've got I'm not sure how the fantasy stuff will scale but I assume it will be similar looking at the renders. Left to right, Perry, Starcide, GW. She's a bit taller than the GW mini and has finer proportions.

Thank you, that is very helpful. A little bit taller but with finer proportions is actually ideal for me since about 50%+ of my fantasy miniatures are now ASOIAF minis.

Yeah, the mini looks good. I have a few kickstarters coming in April, but this one is definitely on my radar. Will try to get at least the miniature set if they are available separately. I dont really need that many more guards, but then again... you can never have too many guards.

This might help with scaling:

Notice that is a primaris marine, on top of a thick GW base and it still fits in the terrain. It might not look like it does, but RPG minis will normally have thinner bases, and not be as big as primaris. Also it stands to reason primaris might have problems with some doors.

Yeah, I'm not as worried about the scaling of the terrain, mostly just the minis. I have a much broader range tolerance for terrain than for minis for some reason.
