Forget them announcing a delay. We just found out about the app within the last month. If they didn't have a fully functional product ready to go they should have never told us about it at all.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Saw the app had an update. Still crashes immediately after launching on my phone.

Says Ipad Compatible, Its not compatible in any other way than the basics for iOS. >.< Does not even orientate the display.

Seems it was far from ready.

It does save the PDF as you get access to them. If useful to anyone, the base app looks to be 32 MB and the Core Rules PDF is 19.
But it could get quite big If you are on a device with less space or using phone data.

Well, its a Dumpster fire. Finding lots of issues for a Simple App.

I’ve used the AoS app to death and it’s great for what it does.
Was hoping the 40k one would follow suit ............. yea.
I’ve just deleted it for now.
Will try it again in a few months.

As it stands now, it’s barely compatible for IOS, the screen resolution is off and it crashes non stop.

For anyone tempted to subscribe, please don’t throw your hard earned money away.

They had all the base template and ideas done via the AoS app so the hard work was already done for them.

It is funny how it requires a constant internet conection to view the rules. The way internet works here, outside of big cities, it makes more sense to just print out the free pdf.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

I was able to use it with the internet off, at least the basics as i am unable to log in lol

I suspect it may get pulled from iOS if they don’t update it soon, it’s clearly not a finished app.
Also one of the first reviews was a 5/5, just a little suss lol

Gone-to-ground in the craters of Coventry

Free months are normal for subscriptions. Look at Netflix, etc.
This is another instance where a company wanted an app, and waited until the last minute to push out a rush job. Build-it-as-you-go is also normal these days. FFG did it with X-Wing for version 2 of that game. No-one uses that, despite it being the only official way to play (apart from PDFs they post up, but don't mention). They've said that their two expansions will never be added, and quietly alluded to a replacement app at some point.

There doesn't appear to be the function to add the SM and Necron codex codes.

Considering how good the AoS app is for most parts, im baffled at how horrible this one is...
Their biggest game which is a massive almost mainstream success and several years delayed they put out an app that looks like a highschool project...
Seriously, no app is better than a bad app.

Its pretty clear to me that timelines of several things have been rushed in order to launch #new40k. I'm not surpised us old beards aint happy, but for every disillusioned old gamer who doesn't bite, there will be four or more youngsters getting into the hobby for the first time, buying #new40k command edition, subscribing to the app and getting access to all the rules content. Heck, if I had returned to 40K only now instead of ~2 years ago, I'd done exactly the same.

The videos about how to play 40K were the final piece of the puzzle, along with the new starters.

I'm actually initially hopeful the app just might pull itself together. We got an iOS upfate within the first week of the app. If this keeps up, most of the typos and stat errors should be fixed in a reasonable time.

The app UI is hella whack though. At least make keywords searchable, would make a ton of sense if we could utilize the keywords for more elaborate searches.. I mean, that is basically what those keywords are, right? Metadata.. some proper syntax pr0n might be fun as well, queries such as
"IMPERIAL FISTS" + "FLY" + "PL>15"
to list all imperial fists datasheets with the FLY keyword that are over 15 power level
or
"ULTRAMARINES" + "FAST ATTACK" + "T" > 6
to list all ultrasmurf fast attack slot datasheets which have Toughness of 7 or more

The 40k and AoS teams are completely separate and do not communicate with eachother, this has been shown multiple times in the past.
Like when both released a mini-rulebook. 40k was an out-of-date 1-1 copy of the Rulebook, without any faq updates or anything while the AoS version incorporated all the changes from the General Handbooks.

Clearly both sides never talked to each other about what they were producing.
