Automatically Appended Next Post: Anyone have any idea what all the plastic hatches are?
There's four crates that correspond to the loot spawning spots (I assume, I don't think there's anything in the rules that specifies this?), two flags, and a bunch of weird plastic hatches or lids or something. Oh. And a plastic head.
?

They aren't defined anywhere in the rules, they're modelled on the Halo Infinite weapon spawn points and most people are using them for that. As for news, nothing beyond the Wave2 preorders which are currently up: 2 repackaged teams and 2 new teams, plus rules for points-building teams which should have been in the base game.
I've been lukewarm on my set, figures are really good for PVC minis but the game... it's just hard to get excited over a boardgame version of Slayer or CTF. I'm still hoping for a Firefight expansion at least. I'd also LOVE to see Reach models as an expansion, but I don't know if Mantic's license covers that. The Wizkids models always looked a little weedy since they didn't account for PVC shrinkage, but especially so when compared to the Flashpoint models.
I airbrushed them in a bright silver (Vallejo Aluminium) then I painted up with GW contrast paints, Blood Angels Red, Talassar Blue, or Luxion Purple. I find the contrasts work really nicely over a silver base, it gives a metallic sheen to them.
Once they dried, I added a few details - black in the suit joints, each weapon painted up a little differently.
Last, I painted the base black.

I hadn't even heard that there are two new teams! I'm on their mailing list, but I must have missed them. Do we know what new minis there will be? I'm waiting patiently for the infected minis... Maybe we'll finally get some cool looking Plague minis?

Thanks for the size comparisons as they're very helpful. I think (if my hazy memory serves) the Reach boxed set suffered from shrinkage more than the full clix set did but I could be wrong after all these years.

Game store I went to last week only had Bolt Action and Hail Caesar in the non-GW/Atomic Mass section, and yesterday I visited a comic book shop with one Spartan, a few Recons... and a bunch of scenery packs. Game looks promising, but I can see it in the bargain bin quickly, given how KT and Infinity just dropped.
A look at some of the new Halo stuff that's coming soon, plus an Assassins Creed board game is coming, alongside a Kickstarter for their advent calendars which will include a new Worms one.
Mantic is doing their crazy boxes again with a board game specific pair of boxes, plus boxes for their regular games but this one feels focused on board games.
Trailer for ODSTs (orbital drop shock troopers) for Flashpoint. "Reveal" on 31st, not sure if that will also be preorder opening or not. I love ODST so this is cool. https://youtu.be/jvjRKQc1g3U?si=pT6tbxGqijBSmqwh
Mantic have clarified that Banished needs rules from the wargames expansion too. Given that this expansion is a $5 PDF I’m not sure why this isn’t included with the banished set.

It's up for October preorder, set of 16 ODSTs in 8 different sculpts. What I find most interesting is that it also includes the Bungie ODST version of Buck and Veronica, which means Mantic's license does include the older stuff outside of Infinity
I'm not a big halo fan, but those are pretty cool and I hope it goes well for Mantic.
Now if they took up the AT-43 or Starship trooper IPs...
I don't mean the movie SST, I mean the book SST, complete with nuke toting Mobile Infantry and laser wielding bugs.

I happened to be passing Nottingham at the weekend and popped into Mantic's HQ, mainly for the Walking Dead.
They let me know that they are unlikely to revisit the single miniature releases that they started the relaunch with, and are likely to continue with collections of multiple models.
However, they gave me a spare Heath card - I had lost the original and was asking about single minis because I didn't want to buy a Hilltop collection for one card. Really nice of them!
