Hi all - among the random projects I've been painting recently, I finally got round to starting an Imperial Fists army that's been sat in my pile of shame ever since... well, the original release of the Dark Imperium box.
Here's what I've finished so far - next up and to be posted once completed are Tor Garadon, some Centurion Devastators, and the rest of the Dark Imperium box (that'd be the Intercessors, Inceptors, Lieutenants and the Ancient).

Let me know what you think - I'm happy to share colours/techniques used, and can take constructive criticism, with one exception - I have not, and will not EVER, drill out bolter barrels!! So don't bother asking.

Hey! Those are some great fists! I really like the vibrancy of your yellow and those golden holsters are really something!

The red plasma effect is great!

I'm going to be working on some Black Templars myself in the near future. Keep up the great work! For Dorn!!

Thanks for sharing - they look great.

And as for the offering of sharing recipes, how did you get such a vibrant yellow?

Baron, don't forget to talk about the SEALs and Marines you habitually beat up on 2 and 3 at a time, as you PM'd me about.

I'll warn you, it's pretty time consuming... but I daren't mess with it, tried a few other options that just didn't work out
Wraithbone spray, followed by Nazdreg Yellow all over. Then layer over that with Yriel Yellow (two thin coats!), and finally Flash Gitz Yellow to highlight. I'm also doing an extra Dorn Yellow highlight on characters.

In practice I suppose it would be possible for a smoother hand to put Yriel Yellow straight onto the undercoat, then put a wash straight into the recesses, but I'd make way too many mistakes doing that myself.

Thanks for the kind words, all!
As promised, Tor Garadon is now finished. Or as I like to call him, the Largest Fist In The West (I know, not strictly accurate):

This was a birthday present from a friend, said friend chose purple as the grav-gun's accent colour and also requested a little weathering too, hence the muddy cape.
...something else about this model I didn't notice until I was actually painting him - I'm pretty sure his face is a callback to some classic artwork!

Bumpity bump! Next up - I have Centurion Devastators for you all! Particularly proud of the shoulderpad work here. Enjoy.
...that's a couple of Heavy Support and a few HQs I've done now, guess I reeeeeally have to do the Intercessors next, huh...?
