Hi!

I have another question that came up while playing a game against Imperial Guard.
Weapons that can target units that are not visible to the bearer like mortars from heavy weapon squads and the big cannon from basilisks. Does terrain in any way interact with these types of weapons?

I am guessin that obscuring does not work since they do not need los. So no help standing behind something obscuring.

But what about light cover for example if i am in a ruin or behind a barricade. I guess i am still getting the benefit to my save? At least in a ruin, not sure about behind a barricade.

And what about dense cover like ruined walls and woods, do i get my -1 to be hit? I can't figure this one out... the enemy unit can't draw a straight line to my models bases, but then again it says that i do not need to be visable so not really sure how this one works...

Ignoring line of sight for visibility is not the same as bypassing terrain rules. Dense and light cover still apply if the firing angle takes the shots over/through terrain with those properties.

Ah okay cool thanks! Then we played it wrong.
I am correct about obscuring however? I can't hide behind a building with this trait that is.

There are two things you have to consider, one is LOS in the shooting phase (which some units like basilisks, wyverns, etc. ignore), and the other are the lines from base to base (or hull), as described in the terrain rules. If those lines from the LOS ignoring unit run through the terrain piece, as described in the terrain rules, the targeted unit would get the cover bonus.

Since a unit that ignores LOS doesn’t need to see it’d target Obscuring has no impact on it.

Obscuring still functions the same, in that it blocks line of sight as you attempt to draw from your model to the target model. However, since your weapon has a special ability that permits you to fire without needing a successful LoS check, you can still shoot.

It's a long winded way of saying "yes", but one has to keep in mind the order of operations here as there are rules and abilities that key into certain parts of the process.
