I have both Brigade Minis ships and GZG ones. I really like the civilian ships BM do, my BFG merchant navy have a bunch (and also some GZG ones!).

Scott, what do you think of the Phalon models, was there alot of clean up to do? Those fighters models look very interesting, if they are decent I think they would be fun alternatives for Tyranid ordnance in BFG.

Yea shall not be alone in the little metal spaceship world!

I've recently fallen into the little spaceships world and picked up a starter fleet of American Republic by Brigade Miniatures and Kra'Vak by Ground Zero Games.

Honestly I think I like the GZG just a tiny bit more. I'm even tempted to grab a fleet of the Islamic Federation even though they don't actually have little guns on them (like the Kra Vak do). Oddly they don't have any images of them on store and it seems the only person to buy and show them off has been the guy behind Broken Stars blog - and even that post is years old

It is a bit odd that there are some models which haven't been photographed for ages on the GZG site...

The multi-part phalon models needed a lot of fitment work. The smaller ones were okay.

I'd probably be more tempted to use SVS fighters as Tyranid ordnance.

Yeah its a shame, some of the Islamic Federation ships are really neat and clearly not too old and yet hardly a photo. A few are certainly feeling a bit of their age when you compare the castings to the more modern Kra'Vak. I'm dreading putting the Dreadnought together for the IF as I'll have to pin it to make the main two rod parts fit together (even then I'm tempted to put two rods on the outside on the underside to just add a bit more bracing that won't be out of place on the model.
