Subject: Some post game noob questions in 9th

Yo, recently played my first game of 9th and we were a little rusty. We just wanted to clarify a few different things that came up during the match.
1. When a wound is allocated to a model (by the owning player ofc), it looks like now in 9th, we are allowed to allocate wounds to different models in the same unit in future phases, so as to keep the maximum amount of models in a unit now? The paragraph at the bottom of pg 220 and top of 221 in the RB ends with talking about allocating wounds to the same model during that specific phase only. This seemed like a kinda big change so just wanted to make sure we were interpreting this right.
2. If my opponent charges me, fights, i remove models thus to no longer be in engagement range and choose to not pile in, is my opponent able to consolidate back into me thus tying me back up in close combat? Same goes for me on my turn charging my opponent and keeping him in CC as well.
Probably nooby questions but thank you!

1. No. Page 18 in the PDF BRB says " If a model in the target unit has already lost any wounds or has already had attacks allocated to it this phase, the attack must be allocated to that model."
So if a model in the target unit has already lost any wounds, you need to allocate to that model before any others.
2. Yes, once a unit has charged it can fight, and consolidate.

Ooo I see. The OR part didn't register with me i guess. I guess the phase part was talking about the attacks allocated to it specifically. Kind of a weird run on sentence. Ok my bad, thanks haha

When a charged unit fights, it can pile in, makes its attacks, then can consolidate. Then another unit is choosen to fight. Your unit doesnt attack, before the charged unit consolidates.

Ooo Ok that makes more sense.

The actual big change is that during a phase you can’t mix up who takes the hits. So if (for example) you begin allocating those Lascannon shots against the guy with a Storm Shield, he also has to take the Hurricane Bolter shots. Or vice versa. No tanking big AP on one mode then putting the weak shots on regular guys. If you allocate hits to one guy he’s got to take all hits that phase, and either survive, or die before you move on to next model. And as noted the “wounded models must take hits first” still applies.
Of course, when first guy dies you can choose new preferred model to take the lumps, but this is a change many seem to have missed.
