So in the 90s Alan Moore had an idea, what if there was a Victorian Justice League/Avengers type super team of the greatest fictional heroes of that age.

So we get Alan Quartermain, Mina Harker, the Invisible Man etc.

Later Leagues suffered as they got towards the present and characters had to be veiled for copyright reasons.

And we ultimately learn that Not~Harry Potter is the Anti Christ.

Oh, uh, ten year old spoilers.

Anyway planted in the background were pictures of other Leagues from even earlier.

Leading to Comic Alliance's parody/April Fools covers

Which got me thinking about the LXGY2K, if I could choose a team of characters from the year 2000 (or at least 'A' year 2000) who would I pick?

Glad you asked!

Mitchell "Mitch" Buchannon is a man who does not exist. There are no records of his existence prior to becoming head of the Baywatch program. And he has shown skills more appropriate to a lone crusader for justice than a lifeguard. He serves as team leader.

Secunded from the Space Program the AI known as HAL9000 provides intelligence, analysis and communication.

A 'Death Race' champion named Frankenstein has been rebuilt countless times. He serves as deputy leader and driver for the team.

Gunfighter, hacker, kung-fu expert, Mr Anderson is the fighter in the bunch. Unfortunately his relationship with the rest of the team is strained by his continued insistence that the entire world is actually a computer simulation.

He's supported by Annie Day, a talented warrior who is believed to be the reincarnation of the legendary hero Joxor the Mighty.

The soft-spoken wiccan known only as 'Willow' provides magical support.

The youngest member of the team, Satoshi, is a ten-year-old Japanese boy armed with several magical creatures he has enslaved to fight for him. He is bound by a terrifying blood oath to never rest until he has captured all of them.

So who would you put in your league?

Had to google a few of those, nice. I was convinced Cate Archer was Sterling's mom, which come to think of it is another option. Archer's set in some nebulous 80s era so an elder Sterling Archer would make sense as their handler.

OH and I forgot the mission! Stop billionaire property developer Alexander 'Lex' Luther from winning the presidency from Jed Bartlet!
