The Academy also inducted two designers, a game, and a web site into the Adventure Game Hall of Fame. This year’s inductees were:

Wolfgang Warsh, game designer, won the Rising Star Award.
The Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts and Design (AAGAD) announced the list of games nominated for 2020 Origins Awards back in March (see " 2020 Origins Awards Nominees Announced ").

Reality's Edge: Cyberpunk Skirmish Rules by Osprey Games
Riot Quest by Privateer Press
Warcry by Games Workshop

Little surprised that the Alien RPG did not win the RPG category -- certainly seemed to be well received-- sold out fast enough.

I think it comes down to the sheer number of people who know of Warcry, as a GW product, versus Gaslands. Isn't the Ennies a "community voted" award anyway?

I suspect that will be down to the size of the audience equating to quantity of votes, rather than being a reflection of the actual quality of the games in question.

That would also explain why Bolt Action: D-day would be so popular, and the only other Nomination being..... Bolt Action: Korea.

Yep. Publishers submit their games to a panel of judges, with online final voting on the products companies bothered to submit and got approval.
The awards themselves are often corporate sponsored as well (though its varied by year as to who and how many)

I think this was a decent call. Gaslands is good, and arguably far more approachable with matchbox cars than GW's fare.

But from the perspective of somebody who spurned GW for the last decade, Warcry is a lot better than the whine crew would lead the average gamer to believe.

Especially if the metric involves 40k, then warcry is a veritable slam dunk in comparison, game design-wise.

I dont put much stock in the origins awards anymore, despite largely agreeing with the winning entries. They kinda lost their relevance in the early nineties, and recent awards have proven quite questionable in the last decade or so.

Hell, conventions that give out awards like the dicetower or boardgamegeek awards matter more to the general consumer, and those awards are even more questionable. Popularity contests, often driven by campaigns for so and sos fabe game to win, so that their confirmation bias isnt bruised, and they have an award name to back up their purchasing choice. Eurogamers on boardgame geek can be really stupid sometimes.
