I see several players complaining about RP but it is actually one of the strongest abilities in the game, let me explain!

Imagine 20 warriors moving 6 inches before the game due to Implacable expansionist. Whenever they reanimate the Necron player reanimatess one model at a time! That means each model can be placed closer and closer to the objective, out of line of sight, or out of range of the next unit's weapon. That short-range gauss reaper can get closer with each successful RP!

Do you remember flayed ones? Each Flayed One reanimated is closer to a 1st turn charge and wrapping units in close combat is easy because of RP! Use the resurrection orb to bring back 3 to 4 models which easily equals around 6 inches closer to the enemy!

I have more to combos but I don't have the codex yet. I am just using the resources online and I got tired of hearing players complain about RP. So please stop complaining about an ability that keeps you alive and provides mobility, you look crazy!

Just remember that with coherency rules, each model must be within range of TWO other models.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Yes, you reanimate the first model within range of the model that survived the attack. You than reanimate the second model within 2 inches of the 1st reanimated model.

Example A is the model that survived, B is the first model reanimated, and C is the second model reanimated. Imagine that B and C are reanimated.

Opponents Deployment zone

--C (comes in next and maintains coherency using B)
A--B (comes back first)

On the negative side, if you failed your first RP roll, your model is truely dead. You don't get a second chance to reanimate them. So It is basically a watered down DR, just works better on single wound model against multi dmg weapons.

One thing to remember about RP is that you do actually have to remove the casualties before you roll RP (at least as far as I can tell from the previewed rules) - this has been consistently done wrong by most battle reports I've seen. That means you don't really get the flexibility of seeing how you roll before deciding whether it's better to get close to the enemy or try to stay further away, so you need to determine this beforehand and remove casualties appropriately.

In this sense it's really not any different to the old RP rules, except you'll get a few more chances to use it given the new timing. Coherency issues also prevent lots of daisy chaining. Overall it's an incredibly niche strategy that is unlikely to come into play that often and even when it does it's not always of much benefit.

You can't Conga line 8th style but giving a few inches closer or further is huge.

If you take the ObSec trait you can be double ObSec with troops and potentially take objectives away with careful RP placement. Conversely you can move out of charge or rapid fire range.

I agree it's a huge benefit beyond just the rule itself.
