There didn't seem to be a stickied thread for this so i am starting one-

Lets see how much we have hurt our bank accounts over the years-

First up-the remains of my dark angels after the great sell off in 4th edition when GW changed the codex requirements that made half my 3.5 ed ravenwing and deathwing no longer legal. i was so miffed with GW at the time i sold off all the newly dis-allowed units though i regret it now (30 terminators, 9 attack bikes and 8 land speeder tornados).

Then there is my salamander successor chapter i started back in 5th with allied grey knights, and all 3 of my superheavy deatchments allowed in that edition.

I am planning on re-basing the grey knights once secret weapons new color injected bases go live.

We do occasionally get “post your army” threads, but they don’t get stickied. Might be that a lot of the army shots get outdated, so it’s nice to get a fresh thread periodically to keep things up to date. But that’s just my Sunday morning coffee thoughts.

Anyway, some Ultras.

you know i was thinking i have to much stuff, i have something like 6 or 7 alternate army lists with what i have in my DIY chapter at 2K points (5th ed). and it is impressive to see people make the effort to build an entire company or chapter. but aside from looking cool and the hobby side of the game when when will you ever use all that?

I’ve put a full battle company down in apoc games. Useless, but kinda fun.

The ability to field multiple lists out of the same collection is nice. What’s hot and what’s not shifts. Sometimes old stuff gets back in the lime light, and I’ve got it. It’s also good when teaching new players. My son is (very) slowly painting his own stuff. The ability to loan him units for a game makes it so he can play. For a massive collection, I don’t have a lot of redundancy. Sure, I’ve got more captains then a chapter has companies, but they all have different wargear. With the exception of them and tac squads, I don’t think I have much that violates the rule of 3.

Being able to shuffle what I have lets me constantly play different lists, which keeps things fun and fresh. One game it’s a mechanized armored column. After that, blue tide of bodies. Null deployment orbital strike. 1st and 10th. There are so many ways to put together a marine list, most of them thematic and quite fun. I like to include as much fresh paint as I can in a list, but also knock the dust off some classic minis and get them to the table. Some of them wait a while for their turn in the sun, but nobody is forgotten.

Nice, funny thing is my buddy runs a green/tan scheme like that on his nids, minus the purple. kind of surprised to see somebody else running that combo.
