So, I'm a little late to the game on this, but... I found the Fallen Sororitas Fan Codex on 1d4chan, and I'm hooked. I love all things Slaanesh, so this seems like an uber funsies friendly match army. My problem... Models. I'm nowhere near good enough to do my own sculpts. I'm planning on using an amalgam of regular Sisters, some AoS Daughters of Khaine, some Dark Eldar, a few from Raging Heroes and Creature Caster. Short version... this is going to be a long process, but I love the idea of Miriael Sabathiel kicking the snot out of some loyalist Sororitas.

My question to the gathered masses is this... What are your thoughts on quality 3rd Party miniatures. I've only within the last month bought non Games Workshop or Forge World minis for my various armies.

Thanks.

Do you mean it like "would you mind playing against me with 3rd party minis"?

Absolutely not. If you meant something else, please elaborate

I think using a fandex would raise more eyebrows than using custom minis. Nobody knows what the dex is capable of and I assume more powerful options will catch some flakk from other player.

Best to give a good heads up to prevent "gotcha" moments.

Basically, this. Third party miniatures? No problem whatsoever. But fandexes can have a tendency to be a bit... well... Mary Sue. With buffs that the author probably thought was being reasonably balanced, but in practice are terribly broken.

In most FLGS I don't think they care, as long as you're super clear ahead of time of what is what when you're playing. It'll be a definite no-no in an official GW store, for obvious reasons.

Like a_typical_hero said, the main problem is that you're using a fandex which means pick up games basically are not going to happen outside of a few fringe cases. Definitely share it ahead of time with people you want to play with to make sure no one is in the dark about what you can do.

Basically... what's the best resource for 3rd party minis.

Also... out of the 20+ players we have at the shop in town, all are excited to see this army in action. I've printed the codex, they've looked through it and the resident Sisters player has all but slapped me in the face with a glove, demanding the first battle.

I'm glad your local group is cool with it. Not all are. I have had trouble with "count as" in a non-GW store when using 3rd party minis. (When WHFB first lauched, any figure was legal, and it was almost impossible to get Citadel in the US back in the early 80's, so I used Ral Partha for my Dark Elves. A decade later, people were jerks* about it despite the fact the store was not a company store!)

As for figures. try Wargames Exclusive. Have not bought from them so I cannot vouch for their quality or service. That said, they have corrupted sisters, female Possessed, female Heretek TechPriest, and Cypheria the Fallen. There are also more risque Repentia sisters if that's be okay with the group and store. I am considering some of their AdMech stuff, including an Inquisitor.

* I want to use something stronger, but the mods wouldn't like it.

I would absolutely refuse to play against the fandex. Doubly so because it's from 4chan.

That said, Traitor Sisters of Battle definitely exist, because recaptured Traitor Sisters of Battle exist [Anchorites], so you're free to convert SoB units to be your CSM. There was also a SoB Order that was purged for "unknown reasons".

I just object to the use of a fandex.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

Also, even though I don't know how "canon" this is: in the Ciaphas Cain Novel "Cains last stand", a whole convent of SoB is mindcontrolled by a particularly gifted Chaos Psyker. (Not only them, a whole bunch of Imperial Guard regiments too). Just to drop the reference.

Yeah, but Cain can't even be trusted to be properly dead, after being buried, so can we *really* trust his perspective on anything?

Sure, but at least in said novel there are tons of other witnesses including navy and guard commanders and an Inquisitor and there are even tapes being recorded and boradcasted to geh populäre of a planet showing Adepta Sororitas acting as bodyguards for said psyker, just to despair and commit suicide when they are freed of his influence. You could say it is one of the in world best documented events in his books.
