I'm writing a feature on the alt right within the 40K community - or more accurately, those who oppose it.

I'm really looking to understand from individuals who are active Warhammer 40K players - the aim is show that the alt right is an unwelcome element within the hobby and the extent of the problem (has it been blown out of proportion? Or a bigger issue than people realise?).

If you have a story about the alt right you'd like to share, I'd love to hear it. For example - has someone you know become interested in alt right ideology by proxy? Have you considered leaving the hobby due to an experience with the alt right? Or do you have personal experience of fighting back against the alt right as part of your interest in Warhammer 40K? (or anything else you feel is interesting)

If you'd be happy to talk to me, please send me a PM, you can as anonymous as you feel like and I'd run any quotes past you if they were going to be used.

Cheers!

One of the strongest parts of the 40k community is that we are, by and large, accepting of everyone. Ours is a game that tends to break down barriers, and not one that sets them up. For that reason, you will find all SORTS of folks in 40k, from far right to far left. From unbridled capitalism, to vehement pro-communism. Religious to athiest. All can play.

I may seriously disagree with someone in the alt right, but playing with them is a chance to learn and talk to a person that often times we build barriers against. Or we tend to build bubbles for us to live in, and our love of 40k means we'll venture outside that bubble to have a game. Either way, I think usually we rub off on each other in a way that encourages understanding.

I find it mostly online simply because most of the people with the ideology are either just trolls or cowards not man enough to say anything out loud.

Luckily it's rare to see it.

They're not worth understanding is the problem. Anything you'd guess about the Alt Right is basically correct. They're immoral, simple as that.

I'm sorry but this breaks the no politics rule we've had to introduce.

best of luck with the article anyway

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.
