What these weird little skeleton cherubs are supposed to represent in regards to the Emperors Children? Ive read through tons of of EC lore and can't figure out what they're about. Anyone got any knowledge on them? Or are they just random?

They're the ghosts of forum members found guilty of using clickbait in their thread titles, instead of a proper description.
Much better! ...sorry, not much to actually add, all I can think of is their being literal Children. I do find it telling that they're holding hourglasses, though - never known that to be an EC thing.

I viewed the hourglass as memento mori. A saying to keep them humble, which makes their subsequent fall to Slaanesh all the more ironic. They have become the antithesis of what they once were.

That's an interesting thought... They never came across as particularly humble to me, even early in the GC/heresy era...but I haven't read fulgrim or Palatine phoenix so I may have missed it.

Story time- At a GW I used to go to the manager had an EC army that was displayed in the cabinet and this was during a period there was an edict from on high that everything had to be labelled with what it was, with the label holders being made from WHFB regiment bases. So we had Emperor’s Children Rhino, Emperor’s Children Noise Marines, and we get the offending one, the Emperor’s Children Defiler. Now, to our educated ears we know the context. To a random parent reading it for the first time with no context we got something that supposedly defiles children in the name of the Emperor. Uh oh....

It got replaced in the cabinet PDQ.

That's hilarious. And terrible. But also hilarious.

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

Doesn't seem like there's any legitimate lore related reason for them. I cant see myself using them on my own emperors children really. They would look quite good as nose art on a flyer or 'what if' scale model plane maybe...
