Should the CoD be treated as models and terrain? Normally when a model is destroyed, even a tank or something like a knight or monolith, it's removed.

I wonder if the CoD should be treated like a model and terrain, i.e. once apiece goes to zero wounds it stays as a piece of terrain.

It might be quite reasonable to posit that a destroyed COD menhir might self destruct or teleport back to a tomb complex as necrons don't like leaving their tech out for the lesser races to study.

The Convergence of Dominion has the BUILDING keyword. From page 261 of the Core Rules ("Buildings"):

Buildings are considered to be units, rather than terrain features.

Strict RAW you should still remove it. As far as the rules are concerned, it's still a unit and a model in your army - the only differences between it and, say, your average tank are the detachment considerations from needing to take it in a Fortifications slot. Nothing about that overrides the requirement to remove it when it gets to zero Wounds.

I'm also not a fan of the idea of leaving it behind even as a house rule, because it sets a dangerous precedent. That way lies the old rules method of tanks being left in place when "wrecked", and while the menhir might not be that obstructive as terrain... anything Land Raider sized and up causes real problems with balancing line of sight, charge ranges etc.

The Convergence of Dominion is a unit, it gets removed when it dies. It's no different to a Land Raider or Land Speeder model. Compare to the Mekboy Workshop or Feculent Gnarlmaw where they become terrain after the game begins.

Now, some buildings in CA19 have a "Designers Note" saying to leave them if they are physically glued to the board, but the CoD does not. If you glued it to the table, better have a hacksaw ready.

Considering the Convergence is able to move around during the game, I’d say gluing it to your table would be highly counterproductive regardless…

I assume normal Deployment Rules suggest that it needs to be deployed 100% in your Deployment Zone, however this may be incorrect.
But am I right? Does it have to be deployed inside your Deployment Zone like any normal non-drop Fortification?

Is there any way to Drop it or Deep Strike it or otherwise circumvent normal deployment conventions?

As far as I can see, no. It has no access to any (regular) alternate deployment options (you can't put Fortification units in Strategic Reserves anymore )
