Just finished remixing a couple of Primaris space marine heads for the printer. Thought I'd share them. Been like 10yrs since I've posted on here but figured it was time to come back. Enjoy

That's a remarkable likeness.

Have you printed them? How do they look on an actual model?

If you had a way to do custom faces on any head, that would become a thing real quick.

Someone in my gaming group did a Sean Connery marine army with heads made to look like characters from The Longest Day, Goldfinger, The Rock, Indiana Jones and other movies.

It was impressive seeing Mr. Connery in the turret of a Land Raider. Wish I still had pictures.

Thats pretty much the plan. I just started learning this week how to remix files and ive been saving all the busts to convert to IG and Marine heads. My buddy wanted this one stat so it got made first. Homelander, Henry Cavill, and Hitler are next I think.

That's awesome. If they do Richard E Grant I'll be all over that, who wouldn't want Withnail leading their Marine company?

I've seen videos of professional 3D modelers doing faces. Basically they start with a 2D image, trace the face, and drag out polygons into the proper shape.

Wonder how that translates into the world of scale modeling. I know you have to change some proportions to get tiny plastic heads to register as faces at the 1/28th scale.

Interested in seeing how this turns out and learning if there's anything special you had to do to the sculpt to get it to look right. Thinking people would pay decent money for tiny faces that resemble politicians / celebrities / family members.

dude watching youtube on this. you can get your face 3d designed for like $100 in most major cities if that. Then its just a matter of making the neck suitable for conversions

This is about average for most small scale sculpting/ 3D modelling. One of the issues with doing this is cleaning up noise in the scan. Noise is unintended artifacts on the 3D model after the scan.

It's funny to me that people are willing to pay a hundred dollars for this, which takes about 15 mins at most to complete. But will not pay 75$ for a fully sculpted model that takes hours in comparison.

Something to be said for personalization and getting exactly what you want.

So test prints are done. The hooded heads both had two layer failures but were salvageable. The other two turned out great besides a support failure on the neck ball. Details arent as pronounced as on a gw model but with a good paint job it would be obvious who he was. On the plague marine variant only the larger of the boils were noticeable.
