I need some anti air in my GSC army. My opponents airplanes tear into me badly (ork dakkajets + x 2.)

I already have 6 ridge runners. So I hope the awnser is not more ridge runners.

But how are the russes with autocannons? 8 shots seems descent.

Jackels with Demo charges, don't think theres a rule about grenades' and fliers, as hilarious as the visual would be.

Alpha would remove the -1 to hit and should shred the fliers apart.

Honestly the ridges with an alpha should be more then enough to kill those planes. I'm assuming you're trying to save them for other threats

They'll get 8 with Grinding Advance.

I'm not 100% sure on the rules for IG and Cult, and wherever you can ally in IG units under the Brood Brothers rule, but I personally would just go for a Hydra. If not, then an Exterminator could put out a decent amount of fire.

Mental onslaught (did i get the name right ??) from patriarch is also quite good, if unreliable, to bring a plane down to not too many wounds. You will rarely one shot a plane with it though.

Are "allyed in" tyranids out of the question ? If not, then I suggest the behemoth flyrant with the relic scything talons + venom canon. It will obliterate any ork flyer with such ease you will be able to bave in your ork opponent's river of tears.
BTW I have like 8000 points in ork, so I know them quite well. Why on earth are you afraid dakkajets ? They are terrible. An ork Kill tank is 100% better, and is not even that comp to strat with... You don't even need to kill them, just bring them down a braket and they don't do jack s after that. And they ain't cheap. any anti tank should do the job, you could even try goliath trucks with their autoC IMO

A lot of questions here. Let me see if I can go through them.

I am afraid of dakkajets. They are S6, my ridge runners are T5. My list run some 110 T3, 5+. Each Dakkajet kills around 10 models each turn. I am bleading far to much to contest on objectives. By turn 5 that is 100 models dead. They need to die fast! In games where they get to live I just loose to many models.

There is usually a motkanaught (BS4+) a death roller, 30 ard boys with da jump and 10 flash gits in a truck. My opponent really puts a lot of pressure on me fast.

Ridge runners can target a whole lot of things. There are enough targets. I need more ranged weapons, and after painting 6 ridge runners I am looking for something else. I was hoping leman russ Autocannon could help.

Regarding allies I can take nid or IG allies, but I am trying collect 100% GSC. They started as allies for my nids. I also find taking hydras because my opponent is brining flyers is a bit cheesy. Shurly GSC can handle things in their own.

Regarding brood Brothers, they suck a bit. I have no way to boost them within the GSC codex. Also, no tank commander so no BS3 leman russ.

I have not considered bikes. But exsplotuons from deep strike is just so very c points intensive!

I have never seen any body take the Autocannon. Only the battle cannon.

That's sadly the issue, the reason people spam Ridges is because they're points effective. Everything else is overcosted or limited in some way.

Your options are mining lasers, demo charges, or IG. Autocannons wont reliably kill 2 jets unless you spam them more then you would ever on the lasers or charges.

My wife plays GSC Russ tanks and they are notorious for not hitting. If I'm right about the jets having hard to hit, you're not killing those planes on 5's. 8 shots a tank with the auto cannons, 3 hit, maybe 1-2 wound, small chance of them saving it. 2-4 damage. Eh.

You can use the bikes without deepstriking them. Hide them and wait for the planes to run to you, then counter "charge" them and throw the nades.

Honestly, the Autocannon needs to be changed to at least AP -2 and/or get a bonus against FLY to make it workable. As it is now, it's incredibly niche. S7 is a very ungrateful S value to have. It wounds most of its predestined targets the same as a S 5 or S 6 weapon would and against everything with T6 upwards a Battle Cannon will be more dangerous (seeing how easy it is to max out its turret gun shots). It used to have the advantage of D2 but now Heavy Bolters can do the same thing, so...

Shame really because I like it aesthetics-wise. I've made 3 LR Exterminator turrets that have never seen usage.

Enemy aircraft are one of the biggest weaknesses that GSC have. It's a total blind spot in the codex currently. You can try to extend your damage by choosing the aircraft as your Single Minded Obsession or Primus marks. Otherwise, our best anti-aircraft are mind-bullets and similar.
