What are the easy ways to make Blade Guards more space wolf like?

Giving them terminators or wulfen shields, grey hunters or terminators heads, replacing the halo with icons from any classic space wolves kit and the swords with frost swords from the grey hunters kit could be a start.

Then add a few wolfy bitz as details here and there, you'll probably have a whole box of them if you have already collected a classic SW army.

The biggest things I'd suggest are the sword to be replaced with axes, greenstuff fur over the robes/tabard, and look for round shields.

Basically, the same thing you'd do to make any Marine look "wolfy".

They/them

Space wolf heads without helmets, wolf tails and aftermarket shields will generally do the trick.

Good chance you've seen this but... https://bitsofwar.com/search?controller=search&orderby=position&orderway=desc&search_query=sons+of+thor may also be some weapons suited to SW also.

When bits of war talk about praeretorian marines, do they mean primaris scale?

Very good point, looking at their range, it seems anything titled ''Prime'' I'm assuming this is the primaris range (heroic 28mm). So yes good call, I'd say the current SW styles are old marine scale, I'd guess this may be a problem for primaris for some time.

Outside of mixing up other GW bits I don't see much else available.

Wow! Some good bits there. And at a reasonable price. I had not seen them before.

Glad there is something potentially of interest, I trawled through sites whilst looking for my own conversion bits for marines, from the web images these were two of the best I could find - along with Anvil. I've not bought from Kromlech (yet) but from what I've seen they are pretty good. Spellcrow I've just received some chainmail tabards, which were fine but I can't vouch for any of the larger items. I'd be interested to hear your thougths if/when you order.

I have not played SW since 5th edition. When painted them purple and orange. Trying for something closer to cannon now.

I have kittet out 10 Terminators. 2 with homemade cyclone missile launchers. The once on that site looks like a must have item for me. Perhaps some of the other pieces as well.

I just think Space Wolves Terminators in particular are good in 9th. Ironically in clear competition to my Blade Guards. I like the small unit count on the blade guards though!

another trick, cut the iron halos off their backpack and replace with the little back pack mounted squad symbols. a bloodclaws pack comes with 3 wolfguard ones that fit perfect. those can make even anotherwise normal bladeguard look space wolfy.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Be great to see how they turn out if/when you manage to get your hands on the bits. The last time I played 40k, everything was sold in red boxes! It's been a real sense of nostalgia coming back to the hobby.

Also worth a search - forever waiting for items to come back into stock, seems you really need to catch it within a day or two or restock.
