I am making a thread for those that have been displaced from the FFG Forums which were taken offline yesterday. Feel free to re-introduce yourself! It is a slow forum but a good one; just make sure to read through the forum rules.

I did not post much on the FFG forum myself but was mumsnarf there as well. I have been working on a board and hoping to post some work in progress photos here soon.

Oh wow. Didn't realize they had been taken down. That is rough. While I RARELY posted on there, lurked there a bit when having trouble solving a rules problem.

Sad to see it go, hoping the community doesn't fracture like the Warmachine community did between the various Facebook groups and forums.

The FFG X-Wing community has pretty much migrated to the Boardgame Geek boards by the looks of it. Seems to be pretty active at the moment.

I've been on Dakka for some time, but I've recently gotten back into Legion. Hope to find some more activity here. Cheers everyone.

What faction(s) do you play? Been hitting the tables pretty hard over lockdown, mostly as Separatists but have been slowly building up a 3d printed Crimson Dawn army to use as proxy Rebels.

I've got Imperials, Rebels, and have started collecting Republic. I'm trying very hard not to collect Separatists because I'd have to buy piles of everything. The awesome stats of the Providence are making this extremely difficult.

You are an Armada player? Love the looks of the Sepies for that but not sold on the game system, played a demo a fair while back and it just didn't grip me but that was back before the Chimera was released.

I also have a (small) clone force for Legion.

As far as playing goes, I have the worst of luck in terms of finding games. Either there's another game people are more interested in or timing won't work. Oftentimes (before the shut down), people would start games at 10pm on Thursday night, and I work 8am-5pm and didn't want to be dead tired the next day.

Yeah, I know Armada isn't for everyone. Some counterintuitive mechanics and, like X-Wing, it's a combo building game (though perhaps moreso).

I actually got introduced to the FFG forums here on dakka. Now I'm displaced back here. Supposedly Atomic Mass games is making us a new forum. But their website is very odd.

Are they? Last I heard their forum was going to be rules only and only Q+A format.

That's kinda the big question. If your going to have one "just for xyz", then how do you Limit it? Nothing's to stop someone from just posting whatever on it. So I don't know. It could be like you said. But then what's the point? Is it moderator replies only at that point? I'm just assuming it will have at least a general discussion section. Total speculation though.

Maybe the forum should be renamed to Star Wars Miniatures Games instead of Fantasy Flight Miniatures Games (seeing as how Fantasy Flight no longer produces the games)?

Aggressively marketing dakka to the FFG refugees might see a nice influx of new members willing to make dakka their home for Star Wars minis related discussion

Most of them I think are settled over on BGG. That's what talk sounded like.... Before the Forum-pocalypse... Before the dark times.

I love the appearance and interface of Discord, but man it's terrible for forum related things. Once the discussion moves past your post, it is history.

Agreed, I much prefer the forum style of discussion with individual threads versus one big discussion of Discord. Even with multiple channels in a Discord server, catching up or staying current on a discussion is a chore if you aren't on all the time.

Agreed as well, discord is great for chatting or arranging games but really bad for actually having a discussion, especially if you want to reference stuff later.

Have to disagree there. The discord channels I’ve gone to have been super helpful and more than polite. Shame some main forums aren’t that way.

I have nothing against the various discord servers (I too am a member of a few), just prefer this style of conversational format and find it far easier to reference/refer back too.
On politeness, cant say as I have found that to be an issue anywhere bar a couple of facebook groups.

I just started Legion about a month ago. I am glad to see you all signing on to dakka. I am sorry your other site shut down. I can't wait to see everything you will post. I got about a squad of stormtroopers left and my core box will be finished.

Honestly... the best thing to be done to enhance the experience for people here, or to draw more in... is just to generate discussions about the game.

The less people post here about Legion, the less likely people are to drift over from the active Discord, or tell people about Dakka and talking about Legion here.

yea, discord/reddit is more about instant communication, FB for that matter too. For long term ongoing discussions, there is no substitude for forums.

Totally agree. I wish they were better utilized. This is one of the few gaming forums with above average activity.
