So yeah, trying to get back into 40k as covid pretty much crushed me playing over the past year. I got in a total of 8 games since 9th dropped so could use some help crafting an IG list that won't suck. The plan is to take Engage on All Fronts or Linebreaker (utilizing the flimsy scions to get stuff in the other table quarters), raise the banners high (two units of bullgryn with astropath support for that). Not sure about the third secondary though. Kinda liked giving the scions an extra 6" range on rapid fire guns (Dragons doctorine). Figure I can be even further backfield , hopefully in cover, and take shots. Not sure what the best relic is for the WL. Is the Aquila still viable? I mean can I still get an extra CP per turn with it even though we're gifted one every turn now anyway. Liked Spotter Details giving the demolishers a 30" range. Never a big fan of Manticores over Basilisks but everyone seems to be taking them so I guess I'll give them a shot. Probably gonna miss that ap-3 though :(

My 9th Edition Imperial Guard army is not that different to this. If anything your army is more powerful than mine (4 Demolishers! Ouch) so there's not a lot I could say that would make this army more powerful.

I think you're right in saying that the Militarum Tempestus Patrol Detachment is worth the CP sacrifice, especially taking into account all the plasma guns it's packing.

One thing I'll say is that your 3 Infantry Squads aren't likely to last long. I'd personally get rid of at least a Demolisher to fit in some more. I would also give the Sergeants bolters, though that's not a big deal. If you can't find the points for it then don't worry about it.

A rugged, stout army .... have you thought about a Warlord Trait? I favor Grand Strategist, and also like the relic Kurov's Aquilla .... since I also like to run a vehicle-heavy AM army, I take at least one tech-priest engineseer, and the custom Regimental Doctrine Jury-Rigged repairs to go along with Gunnery Experts .... best to you, and good hunting!

I was going to stick 2 of the infantry squads in chimeras and see how long they would last holding an objective

I was considering jury-rigged but my experience from 8th taught me that getting back a wound or two isn't enough. Usually if someone's shooting at my demolisher they're not pinking at it with a single wound weapon. And with being able to run at the top row of your damage chart with Relentless I started looking at increasing the range of the demolishers so they could get off a shot turn one. I kind of like Old Grudges for WL trait but that means either one of the TC is the WL which puts a huge target on his back or the CC is and he would have to sit back with the manticores. Was thinking he'd give orders to the single IS that is running around unprotected by a metal coffin.

And what about the bulgryns? Should I be mixing up the shields or are brute better than slab?

Seems you've given considerable thought to what you've done .... good on you! I can't offer an opinion on the bulgryn, as I never use them .... again, best to you!

Made a small but important tweak. Removed the Company Commander and added a Master of Ordinance. He'll sit back with the Manticores providing hit rerolls of 1 and a D6 S8 shot once per battle.
