On a thread elsewhere someone posted a meme implying that mephiston would basically pwn tigurius.

Playing neither blood angels nor ultramarines i am aware of both characters and their basic stories, how mephiston was a librarian trapped under a collapsed building for days, overcame the red thirst and acquired incredible powers as a result. Tigurius was the ultramarine chief librarian who forsaw the coming of the tyranids and warned calgar in time to prepare ultramar's defenses.

The thread went on and someone said that mephiston was like some ultimate psyker,, supposedly second only to the emprah himself in power yadda yadda yadda. Tigurius knows exactly what you're going to try to do before you do and sidesteps your shots before you pull the trigger blah blah blah.

Ok, the guy who posted it was a bit of a jerk and i blocked him after he got jerky with me so i couldn't see the thread anymore but i was curious as to who people here think is the more powerful psyker and who would pwn who.

Tiggy is cool, but some people just have hateboners for the Ultramarines.

One's a psyker AND WFB vampire lord and the other... isn't.
Seems open and shut to me.

Well, if Tigurius goes first he can cast Null Zone, Veil of Time, and Might of Heroes, and if he gets lucky none get denied, and he might spike damage...

Most likely Mephiston is going to win (even without psychic powers). S10, T5, and 5+ damage shrug will do that for you.

I had a funny image of tigurius, just before the battle, popping a little something in his mouth and chewing it. When the two come face to face it looks like mephy's going to win until tiggy takes a deep breath and heavily exhales into tiggy's face since of course neither are wearing helmets.

Tiggy suddenly freezes, a look of shock on his christopher lee like face, gags, convulses, staggers back and all but collapses because tiggy, having forseen he'd be facing a damn vampire, brought a few cloves of sanctified garlic with him.

Ok ok just kidding, but it would be funny.

It's tough to say since most things in 40k are so OP its like 2 guys with shotguns aimed at each other, point blank.

Tigurius is the better wizard while Mephiston the the better fighter.

Space Marine spells are more of a supportive buff/debuff nature and both possess a Psychic Hood.

My gut feeling is that Tigurius being the better caster does not make up for raw power that Mephiston possesses. In a straight 1v1 without preparation time I'd give it to the Blood Angel.

Tigurius is probably the more powerful psyker by just a bit but Mephiston is at least competitive in that aspect while also being considerably more formidable in hand to hand combat. Drop them both in an arena and have them fight and Mephiston should beat Tigurius' ass in a fight per lore.

On the tabletop I've never done the numbers but I'd guess Mephiston wins there too, since he can more easily maneuver the battlefield and close the gap and IIRC should have much better CQC.

I used Mephiston once in 8th. The only thing he killed was Tigurius. Take from that what you will.

in combat, probably Mephiston.
But Tigurius is the better Psyker.
Think he is the only Psyker to interface with the Tyranid Hivemind and survive.

Considering the recent stories of Mephiston's feats in freezing time and a bunch of hooey being super buffed between his transformation from overcoming the Black Rage AND his primaris buff, if it was a 1v1 I think Mephiston wins. Tigurius is a very strong psyker, but I feel his powers have more to do with divination and non-combat based psychic abilities which make him a poor foe to face against someone like Mephiston.

Fun thread, but I think this pretty much nails it. They do different things. Tiggy is more of a force multiplier, where Mephiston is literally intended to be the actual force. It’s not a fair fight IMO. Unless Tiggy is able to foresee some way of getting Mephiston killed on his way to the fight.

Kinda off topic, but it annoys me how Tigurius rerolls all psychic tests, something no other psyker in the game can do. There's no real justification for it. Rerolling one test a phase would be ok, like what farseers can do...rerolling everything is just dumb.
