So I want to make a diorama for my cousin who is in love with DoW1 and constantly talks about it still. I want to do Gabriel Angelos defeating Lord Baal with Sindri in the background. But I don't know which models to use. DoW1 was just Gabriel in regular astartes armor with a sword and bolt Pistol right? No Terminator armor? And what model should I use for Baal/Sindri? I assume Chaos Lord/Sorcerer, but what is that weird mace thing that Baal has?

Yes Gabriel Angelos is in power armour, Mark 7 I believe. He starts out armed with a power sword and bolt pistol. As I recall during the campaign you can upgrade him to have a Thunder Hammer. But, no he doesn't end up wearing Terminator Armour - not sure why the Forgeworld Model has him in that (unless that comes from DoW2 or DoW 3?)

Not sure what mace you're referring to. Bale has a power scythe. Been a long while since I've played DoW though.

I'm pretty sure there's no models you can just use OOB, and most will need kitbashing, maybe even some scratchbuilding of details, although I can't really offer up any examples to start with, looking at GW's current range I don't think there are any that would make an easy starting point if you're aiming for accuracy compared to the game's models.

For Bale I'd go with the Chaos Lord in power armour, with a bolt pistol, then give him a scythe from a Deathshroud Bodyguard model or Typhus's scythe, and remove any Nurgle stuff from them.

Gabriel Angelos you could just about get away with a Mark 7 Power Armoured Captain model with an helmet free head, if you can find one.

But those would be a very basic starting point and not instantly recognisable unless further detailed and painted in specific ways to look like them in-game.

Terminator armor is what he's packing after DoW2, and during DoW3.

Right, in DoW2 he's a champion, in DoW3 he's the damn Chapter Master, if it's still even a "chapter" at all. I don't want him with the TH, as when he fights Baal in the game he's just regular captain with sword and Bolt Pistol. Is there a good place to get color schemes for BRs?

Ah right, I didn't really bother with DoW2, certainly not DoW3. Just know he didn't have Terminator Armour in DoW1.

I meant more regarding the color chart or maybe the numbered color system. They aren't Mephiston Red, but I was going to go mephiston red with some leather brown, and see if that made a sort of darker brownish red? That's what I remember them being. Darker red, with BA iconography but a Eagle thing.

It may be worth trying to dig up the White Dwarf that featured the Blood Ravens from the end of 8th. There might be painting info there.

Ah, right, gotcha, you mean the specific paints.

Sindri was based on one of the (now OOP) metal 2nd edition sorcerer models:


It turns up on ebay reasonably frequently, and you can just swap his sword out for a staff (Sindri's staff was basically just Ahriman's staff with the horns replaced with blades).
