OK then hit me with it, how uncompetative is this? Is there any chance of even winning one game out of 5 at a major? 'cos that's my goal.

The reason I am asking, is that it's an easy option in every way for me to bring to my first ever tournament. All the models are all official, no conversions, unlike all my other projects - but i'm not willing to buy more stuff for them (ok maybe something, that fits the theme). It will also be simple and easy to bring and play with.

I am also asking for suggestions on chapter tactics, traits, etc. They will be painted quite generically: black with blue trim and skull transfers.

This roughly fits into 2000 points and one battalion:

HQ
Captain on bike
Leuitenant
(can maybe squeeze in a Librarian also)

Troops
3x ten man Tactical Squads with missile launchers and flamers
Transport: 1 Rhino

Elites
Dreadnought with multi-melta
Five man Terminator squad

Fast Attack
2 x Bike Squads each with six bikes + one attack bike with multi-melta
Land Speeder squad with three speeders all with multi-meltas

Heavy Support
Predator, load out tbc

Any opinions or suggestions welcome. Be brutal. I am not precious and you won't hurt my feelings, much.

Biggest issue you have is there's no consistent theme. Your bikes and speeders would go well in a ravenwing force but not the rest of your stuff. Do you have any favourite chapters at the moment because if you do it would be easier to tailor the list to work better.

I'll say this though, preds are ok but not great. Your troops are pretty basic but if you give the sergeant a decent melee weapon and combat squad with the flamer in his half they could work. Likewise your captain on bike needs equipment, hammer and shield at least I'd say. What does your leuitenant have? Basic terminators aren't great either, hammer and shield is the way to go, and a basic dread isn't likely to survive long.

Now this is coming from someone who mostly plays space wolves and our dreads and terminators have much more varied options so I might be a little biased in that sense.

Thanks for your thoughts. Yeah it's a varied force, so can't go hard on any one thing. I think melee is really lacking as you rightly identify, but all characters and elites have the most basic loadout. I could maybe convert the captain, he's still in bits, but I am not sure I want to spend much time and money on the rest - but I suppose powerswords on the seargents wouldn't take long.

I am stumped on a chapter, although my fave is crimson fists, which isn't terrible (bolt weapon exploding 6's and +1 to hit units with 5 more models than yours).
I was just going to give them the successor traits (first!)Born Heroes, to help in melee, and one other, a protective one.

If you want a defensive buff I'd go with stealthy or stalwart depending on your taste. Master artisan is also rather good if fancy something different.

Now then, for your captain I'd give him a hammer and shield which will work well with born heroes. Then I'd give him imperium sword and master craft his hammer. Makes him a powerful counter punch guy to hang around with your bikes.

Your pred, I'd give it the autocannon and las sponsons. If you still have your termy bits I'd recommend adding a cyclone, at least then they'll have some punch.

hmmm thanks those are good suggestions, and I could probably make a cyclone out of the bits box....and I always wanted a 'smash captain' since I found out what they are. So lame that you can't give them a jump pack if they are on a bike (for explosive dismount and lawmaster style self-destruct).

Warlord trait, I was thinking the obsec aura one, so the bikes he's with get it.

That's not a bad idea either, I was considering suggesting that one but went with the full smash captain instead.
