I have always wanted to make a Daemon army. I love the idea. Especially now that my man Belakor got a new model I think it’s time to do some brainstorming. However.... I have no idea what I’m doing. I love some of the models... like seriously love them and want to incorporate them into a list because well they are beautiful modes.... the models I would like to use are....
Belakor
The Changling
Lord of Change
Blood Letters
Nurglings
Pink Horrors (although I’m gona convert them using those tree guys from AOS)
Plaguebearers
How viable is it to run a list with all those units? I kinda brainstormed a list and with those units it will be around 1500 points so I have 500 more points to go. Any suggestions on units ??? Think I should drop a unit or two???

Running a list with all of the flavours of Daemon can be a bit meh since not all your units and characters synergize with each other. On top of that, you really get the most out of your infantry when they're in 20+ model units, which can get very expensive in points very quickly.
Just taking Be'lakor, the Changeling, a Lord of Change and then 3 units of daemon infantry with 25 models each would be around 1500pts, so you could do it but I don't think it'd be that good.
Your Bloodletters would really want a herald and maybe a Daemon Prince to get them the +1S, re-roll charges and re-roll hits of a 1.
Your Plaguebearers would again want a Herald to give them psychic buffs.
The Changeling is cool but not as good as a Herald for buffing your horrors.
You could play it but it wouldn't have the combo strength that Daemons are good at.

Maybe try this?
++ Patrol Detachment 0CP (Chaos - Daemons) ++
+ Configuration +
Battle Size: 3. Strike Force (101-200 Total PL / 1001-2000 Points)
Chaos Allegiance: Tzeentch
Detachment Command Cost
+ HQ +
Changecaster: Staff of Change
Lord of Change: Exalted Lord of Change, Incorporeal Form, The Impossible Robe, Warlord
+ Troops +
Horrors
. 30x Pink Horror: 30x Coruscating flames
+ Fast Attack +
Screamers
. 6x Screamer: 6x Lamprey bite
++ Patrol Detachment -2CP (Chaos - Daemons) ++
+ Configuration +
Chaos Allegiance: Khorne
Detachment Command Cost
+ Stratagems +
Rewards of Chaos (1 Relic)
+ HQ +
Bloodmaster
Daemon Prince of Chaos: Daemonic axe, Khorne, Skullreaver
+ Troops +
Bloodletters: Banner of Blood, Bloodreaper, Daemonic Icon, Instrument of Chaos
. 29x Bloodletter: 29x Hellblade
+ Fast Attack +
Flesh Hounds: Gore Hound
. 6x Flesh Hound: 6x Gore-drenched fangs
++ Patrol Detachment -2CP (Chaos - Daemons) ++
+ Configuration +
Chaos Allegiance: Nurgle
Detachment Command Cost
+ HQ +
Poxbringer
Spoilpox Scrivener
+ Troops +
Nurglings
. 4x Nurgling Swarms: 4x Diseased claws and teeth
Nurglings
. 4x Nurgling Swarms: 4x Diseased claws and teeth
Plaguebearers: Plagueridden
. 29x Plaguebearer: 29x Plaguesword
++ Total: [104 PL, 5CP, 1,998pts] ++
Kept it as close to your list as possible but with some changes:
- Swapped Kairos for an exalted Lord of change cause this guy gets -1 to hit against him and a 3++ invul save and you get two extra bonuses that you roll for (or choose one)
- Got rid of the Fury's and grabbed you some Screamers instead, they're just better
- Taken off the wings and given the DP the relic axe for some anti-titanic stuff
- Given the Bloodletters the banner of blood and I'd also spend the CP to put the Khorne herald, DP and Bloodletters in deepstrike. The Bloodletters will get a 3d6" re-rollable charge and will get 61 S6 AP-3 attacks on the charge hitting on 2s re-rolling to hit
Again, this list isn't optimised but it'll give you a taste of each god without losing what makes each god special

just my 2cents. I ran screamers... 2 units of 3, I really thought they would be a waste of time, but they were ignored until too late, and by then they were so annoying to my opponent, they finally got some attention, even then 1 model still lived at the end of the game. I'm positive they were worth their points.

Would two-three "deamon" units necessarily be better? I am worried about survivability. However it would be annoying having to deal with two fast units tieing up enemy units.

2 smaller units are definitely more survivable than 1 big unit.

Very 8th edition. I might combine the nurgle and tzeentch into a single battalion, neither army locus is overly critical.
Nurgle holds the objectives, tzeentch clears infantry and uses mortal wounds on vehicles.
Khorne kills things. And likely drop the scrivener, then you can reduce the nurglings to 3 models and have a 3rd unit of them, or add good things like flamers or a skull cannon.

Mmmm, it'd only be +1CP and it'd be nice to see if the Tzeentch loci could do anything to keep the big chicken alive.

Eh, the Scrivener is a fun little buff for the Plaguebearers: M7", hitting on 3s and double attacks on 6s is pretty cool. Not the most competitive option but a fun one.

The big chicken is really hard to kill unless you expose it to 4 turns of shooting from Tau or Imperial Guard. The Loci is only useful in combat, so don't try to engage unless you know you can already win. Try the scrivener of course, I did.

I once killed the chicken in 1 turn with custodes. He was very unlucky.

I ran my super chicken into a unit of bullgryn, after gettng shot by 1 tank commander and 2 basilisks. 3 turns later I finally killed those ogres, by then the game was over. I think he lost 3 wounds. I went into a combat that I knew I wasnt going to lose

I don't doubt it, just saying that every little helps and adding on layers of toughness will only make it even more unlikely that you'll have that unlucky game where you get gancked by the dice gods.

It kind of bugs me that this is turning out to be a mutli-daemon army, faction wise at least.
Though I've almost never had the chance to play daemons, and the last time was in 6th edition. Whereas I've been playing GK and IG for the last few runs.
I'm too used to seeing singular armies focused on one, or two specific rotations.
Usually Bloodletter bombs, mixed with skull cannons and soul grinders. Though I haven't seen anything with Be'lakor since he's come out.

I ran a mono tzeentch daemon detachment before, in 9th edition you'd only want a patrol, because those horrors are psychers... - abhor the psyker anyone?
Now that plaguebearers and nurglings have been nerfed...
We need another durable for the points unit. Horrors give up secondaries, the nurgle units are expensive, bloodletters aren't worth it unless they get into combat, and daemonettes are too fragile.
Honestly it might be internally balanced.

I thought as much, you never saw these things in groups larger than 3 most of the time. It's just too bad that they don't have much benefit in a straight daemon army. Chaos in general is going to have far more variety, not to mention the fact that melee bombs of possessed, with a greater possessed is still a tactic that you'll run across.
I just think daemons have suffered in the last few updates, with only small gains in return.

Slaanesh are stronger than they have been in a long time.
Nurgle and Tzeentch are still strong mid-tier armies.
Khorne is as it always has been: fun but not competitive.
And mixed daemons are still pretty good.

As for Nurgle and Korne, they've been relegated to everyone's back burner, and Tzeentch has been the only one to reliably give me issues. Seeing as I mostly play GK with IG allies, they've got the ability to throw out plenty of shots that can tear through either my knight's armor, or completely ignore my Guardsmen's cover. Spells not withstanding. As for mixed daemon armies, it must be geographical. Because I've only see a mixed army be played by one person who frequents the same two shops that I do. Everyone else has run either massed Nurgle hordes, or spam-happy Tzeentch armies. As far as daemon armies go for the time being. We still have the same Space Marine power gamers, though the new power creep with Necrons seems to have put a damper in their fun, and our only two Tau players have somewhat given up their main armies, till some updates come at the very least.

The Slaanesh character spam army with fiends support is really fun and powerful.
Though if you're playing Grey Knights then it would probably make sense that melee Daemons don't give you much fuss. I still wanna play a Grey Knoght army though just to use the strat where you bring your unit back after it's been killed.
