i was just wondering what everyone thought about units that get their warscroll changed/updated?
how do you know which to use and what do you do if you run across someone using an outdated scroll?

for example, dreadscythe harridans just got updated in the new belakor book.

does this mean i have a choice to use the scroll in the nighthaunt book or do i have to use the scroll in the belakor book?

what if i didn't know that they were updated... would i be wrong using the old scroll?

thoughts?

You should always use the newest, and for 99% of them the free one is correct - the Dreadscythe Harridans file is called "BR_Belakor_Warscroll_DreadscytheHarridans_eng" for example.

would you agree as a casual player that this is hard to keep up with?

i depend on the age of sigmar app a lot... maybe i just havent given it a chance to update?

You're missing the most important part of the FAQ ruling:

You must use the most recently published warscroll and errata that you or your opponent have available.

If neither you or your opponent have the new book or warscroll then you use what you have. Of course in a tournament or league that decision would be in the hands of the organizer.

Yes there was talk baout this on the Honest Wargamer how GW is doing a disservice to customers outside tournament players who are struggling to know. The example was a guy who got back into the game after 20 years bought the older LRL book, showed up and the opponent said "oh you could have just bought BR Teclis and possibly this other book".

Those 3 books were released within 1 year (covid argument aside) which for a casual player is the dumbest thing imaginable.

If someone starts really laying it on in casual (which is anything outside a tournament for prizes, c'mon get real, your pick up game Friday night isn't mission critical) about trying to learn and get into this game they should consider rethinking their life.

The Azyr app is a dud. GW makes terrible apps and is terrible in the digital world. Don't expect it to be updated in time. But if it is then by all means use an update to date version.

TL;DR: as veteran gamers be kind bringing people into the fold, show them where and how they can get new rules and don't freak out if they have older stuff, just relax it's a game.
