Hey, Ork, whadda ya rather do:

Fight as some boyz trying to hold onto some backwater moon against 'umie invaders trying to steal it for an "agriworld", with a little 'elp from some freeboota pirates.

OR!

Attack a 'umie agriworld on the frontier to try to loot it!

I'm no Ork player but a story from the first perspective with the Orks as defenders would be pretty cool.

I'd go for the defence one, it's a situation you don't often see for the Orks. Very rude of the Imperium to come and steal their stuff.

Hell, you could probably do both at the same time. Orks seize new territory and then have to hold it against the counter offensive. That would make things nice and chaotic.

But as the others have said, orks on the defensive footing is a more novel idea. I'd certainly like to see what kind of defenses orks can put together. A Bad Moons super-fortress, or maybe some kommando booby-traps.

your mind

Ork defenders is an interesting idea... and,

It seems a great chance for you and a friend to play that mission from both sides.

So, yes.

I'm writing out a campaign setting to hopefully, play in once the world gets back to normal. Intending to build a bunch of terrain and backstory for it, so I do want to choose one storyline vs the other.

The "Imperial forces operating under a Rogue Trader, trying to wipe out an Ork world to establish new grox farms" line is the one I've been writing so far; I just don't want to dive too deep down that rabbit hole if "Orks on the defensive" isn't something Ork players are particularly interested in.

That's a brilliant idea! Food is a great resource for a territorial dispute. So mundane, yet incredibly vital.

You should make little grox cutouts for victory points.

Speaking as someone who likes Orks, but doesn't actively play them much... Both seem good and make sense, but the Orks on the defense seems less common and more fun to focus on.

Your thinking about it all wrong, the imperium is bringing a good fight to you with more variety of loot to be had.

It's doubly interesting if you treat the ork moon as their version of an "agri-world," full of grots and human slaves, making stuff that ork freeboota kaptins use to resupply.

"OK ladz, we's stoppin off at Da Grubb Hubb, 'ave the boyz grab all da grub, and da beer, and dat shroomy stuff da weirdboy likes, and a bunch of new gitz while you're at it--oi! What're deez humiez doin on me Grubb Hubb! WAAAGH!!!"

Considering the history of the imperium I hunk of most xenos armies as defenders
