Yes was going to say Yaktribe will probably have a lot of stuff there.
I had some plans for a Necro campaign that sadly got forestalled by Covid, but a couple of ideas below. Like you we were going to use a hybrid model of old and new versions; use the NCE for all of the pre and post-game stuff (scenarios, gang ratings, injury table) and NC18 for the actual games themselves. The key reason for that is that the balancing mechanism for the original was so superior, so it's a good way of stopping people from losing interest in the campaign if they get hammered a few times. There were a couple of minor alterations to the rules; using the
WHFB hit chart for melee, original high-impact and exploding weapon rules, plus allow people to fire into melee. I'll try and find the link to get more details..
That sounds like a really great idea for the permanent campaign. One idea I had had, but hadn't implemented, was to use Wix.com to make a really basic website (it's super easy to use and free) where you could use as a Hive Times blog, which featured a map and battle write-ups from games people had played. So you could track the campaign, everyone can access it easily etc. There would be a 'now hiring' board where you (if you are
GM for the campaign) can drip-feed in hired guns and scum and make them available to buy - it's also a way then of helping out gangs that are struggling after the first few games. You can post amusing stories about the demise of gangers, or warnings about what might be coming (one scenario I had was of headless corpses being found for a while, leading to a fun 'Predator' style all-against-the-monster game you can put on to help break up the campaign).
Sounds like a really great idea though, look forward to reading what you come up with and hopefully stealing some ideas !
