Hey guys, a while back I was very much tempted to put together a Panzer/Tank themed Tau list utilizing all of the FW variants. However with all of them going to Legends it forced me to abandon the project and focus on other things. However with the news about the new Railgun it got me wondering what are the chances do you think that we will get two different datasheets for the Hammerhead, one with the Ion Cannon and the other with the Railgun. I've noticed other books do something similar with their new tank models such as Space Marines and I'm just curious on what y'all thoughts are that they might get the same treatment. If this does happen it will Revitalize an army I've wanted to do since 8th Edition

Yeah that's a very fair point, I hate the rule of three for this reason. Kills any chance for people doing thematic/themed list. Only hope I have is they allow them to Squadron but again I highly doubt it.

Eh, if there were "Hammerhead with Railgun" and "Hammerhead with Ion Cannon" datasheets, as the OP suggests, you'd expect both to feature HAMMERHEAD as a keyword.

Note that I'm not saying that they will be different datasheets, merely that the phrasing of that stratagem doesn't rule it out on its own.

Its not impossible, but I wouldn't bet on there being 2 datasheets.

And who cares about legends? Do your army the way you want.

Couldn't say. GW has been on a kick lately of giving everything its own datasheet with a slightly different weapons loadout, but at the same time they are just as likely not to do this...its rather willy nilly to be honest.

Personally, with how good the HH is looking I doubt they would be dumb enough to let people squadron them. Heck, they just nuked Ork buggy lists from orbit by saying you can only have 1 squadron of each buggy, which means 3 of any 1 kind of buggy regardless of whether its in a squad of 1 or 3

With that said, the HH freakout has literally all the hallmarks of the "OMG ORKZ ARE T5!" event in which every single person who thought T5 would break the game was wrong. not just a bit, like you might see them in some tournaments, but COMPLETELY wrong to the point where competitive players literally pay CP to not have to take troops.

So i'll reserve judgement on how OP or trash the HH is until i see the codex and how it interacts with other rules and units.

I would expect a specific name for each unit, like Predator Annihilator and Predator Destructor, if they were to have separate datasheets. Both of those have the Predator keyword, but a datasheet specific keyword as well.

You have the skyray too right?, as well as longstrike. That should make like, 7 gunshippy things which I'd think would be enough?
Though if not i get it, I'm angry at GW right now cause my AIRWAAAAAGHH!!! was using 4 scrapjets pretty thematically as grounded flyboyz, but no more cause of GW sillyness.

In earlier editions this would be a pretty epic encounter (I have done it and am still doing it).

In 9th? Tanks are just big infantry units were damage spills over.

I don't care about being super competitive I prefer to build themed armies. The idea of tank fights in the 41st millennium it's just awesome to me. If I can't do a Tau Tank army the way I want I'm looking at doing an Eldar one instead.
