Extremely low model count, less than 20. but 6 Dreads, and a Gladiator Valliant will soak a fair number of wounds. Especially with a Master of the Forge repairing. Feels like the easy answer to it is to shoot up the Heavy Intercessors and outlast the Dreads on scoring. What do you think?

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

Well, it's a major skew list. Whether it does well or not might simply depend on whether or not your opponent can deal with 7 vehicles.

But lets take a look at it as-is.

So you have Bobby G in there. He's very expensive, he's good in melee, and he gives out a ton of rerolls. That's pretty good on your dreadnaughts, but it encourages you to castle heavily. That might mean you'll have to pick between getting a lot out of Guilliman's rerolls and trying to control board space. Just something to keep in mind. I'd be very tempted to ditch this guy for Tigurius. Tigurius would be a lot cheaper, and could protect your dreads with Psychic Fortress.

I'd probably swap your Heavy Intercessors weapons for Hellstorm rifles. Your list lacks speed, so I'd say that having your only obsec units able to advance and shoot is a must.

Venerables are a bit of an oddball choice here. You could swap them for Contemptors with basically the same loadout and get a 5+ inv save out of it. If you want them to have melee options I would go this route.

If you keep the Venerables you want to make the most of their BS 2+, so I'd probably change the combat weapon for the missile launcher and use them as a gun platform. Lascannon pairs well with that and might make a bit more sense because of the range, but multimelta is good too.

I also might look really hard into trying to include a unit that plays secondaries well. Which secondaries are you planning to take? You might find a hard time scoring with this list. You have very few units that can take any actions, and pretty much nothing fast either. That closes a lot of secondaries off to you. You could take some Incurors to try to get Nachmund data or Teleport Homers or something. Might help. Or you could use an Inquisitor and try to score off of psychic Interrogation.

Best of luck to you.

I hadn't even gotten that far, I was just screwing around with Battlescribe and halfway through a "serious" listbuild I looked up and saw a couple Dreads around the Techmarine, remembered people complaining about Duty, and decided to lean into it to see how far it could go. I flipped back and forth between the Contemptors and Venerables.

duty eternal is still a great rule, but there have been a lot of armies with some capacity (or a lot of capacity) for -1 damage on their units. There also continues to be a trend towards high damage weapons, mitigating the usefulness of duty eternal. I think the chances of catching anyone completely off guard are minimal in a competitive setting. It may still do well against casual lists though.

I'd suggest you build lists with at least 1 secondary, if not 2 secondaries in mind. It's important to give yourself the tools you need to score points.

Turn one I would fire prism link fire Guilliman and ignore his invulns. Zap him turn one. I’d kite around the range of your multi melts dreads until I was ready to pounce with my fusion pistol harlequins Missile launcher spam hornets, fire prisms. Also would deep strike some wraith guard up close since you have no real screening units. So there’s 5x D6+3 shots too. You wouldn’t even get into range with most of those units. By the end of turn two you’d have 4 dreads dead most likely. And you probably wouldn’t even have been able to maneuver into good enough line of sight to kill much of my stuff. You would lose against a high mobility army or one that is focused on objective scoring. The -1 damage won’t help when so many weapons do D6+3 now. I don’t play space marines but I play against them sometimes and they seem too slow.
