Haven't played a game of of 40K since 6th came out, but for some reason I felt compelled to pick up a box of Intercessors. Imagine my shock, disbelief, and utter amazement when I opened the box and found good ol' GW doesn't provide any of the power weapons or chain swords for sergeants. I have bits. And more bits. Scale is the problem, though. Where are people getting power weapons for their sergeants? I feel it's a pretty stupid question, but I honestly don't know where to source these. Fortunately, anyone I play against isn't going to scream WYSIWYG, but Space Marines look cool with power weapons, soooo...

Easy place is the assault intercessor kit. Some other primaris kits also have options. Bladeguard vets, pretty sure. Some of the chapter upgrade frames have an option on them.

some old bits can look OK. Relic blades, more recent power fists. Some terminator parts

There are upgrade sprues that sell Power Weapons (among other bits and bobs) for Primaris.

I knew somebody was going to say that, haha! That's why I figured it was a stupid question, lol. I'm just not sure I'm going to jump back into 40K. I've a fair amount of Ultras, and after two years of painting Romans, Carthaginians, and occasional AOS, I wanted to do something different. So I grabbed a box of these guys. I figure if I play a game, at least I can have a unit of Primaris. The problem with relic blades and termie stuff is, I've prolly already used them. I might find something I could use on my Grey Knight sprues. Thanks, guys.

Prior to the release of the assault intercessor kit (early 9th edition), you really had to scrape around to find them. For all of 8th they slowly added options that you could take, but you could only find the parts on very specific sprues. For example, the only place you could get a power fist was on the Imperial Fist upgrade sprue. The assault intercessors were the first time we got the one-stop shop for all our sergeant gear needs.

The powerfists from the Mk IV tac squad are a good fit.
I’ve used the big GK swords, and DA swords from the old ravenwing upgrade sprues
Sword arm from the tarteros terminator kit (I think, might have been the capheracti)
