...is there a lineguide for their size, speaking about legal in 9th edition? Like, I am not sure how it works, but for minis that aren't sold anymore by GW store (i.e. Dark Angels Company Master) how does it work?

There are no rules for bases in 9th edition, you can use whatever you want.

As long as it sticks in the whole base, I suppose, aye? I don't know if a Redemptor Dreadnought wants to stay on a 25mm base!

However, it's probably a good idea to check with your TO / FLGS in case they have any house rules (such as the ITC/LVO basing chart)

General consensus is that it should be on the base it came with. But some models have been printed with different base sizes at different times so then it's usually a free choice if your making your own.
Putting a dread on a 25mm base would clearly be modelling for advantage but putting your character on a 32mm base to match your primaris army will not ruffle feathers

Makes sense (about the 'what came out with' rule). I bought an old Dark Vengeance box set, so my concern came when I saw mixed bases

It should be on the size base it currently comes with. I've never seen a TO allowing Space Marines on old base sizes for example because it allows you to get more guys into combat.

There is no rule saying you must rebase your models. So while tournaments may make their own house rules, they're by no means universal nor does everybody play in tournaments.

There's no rules about base sizes at all so if you're not playing in tournaments, your base could be anything from a single dime to a pizza box. However, if you might want to play a tournament some day, it makes sense to use the appropriate base size. I'm not sure why you would want the older, smaller bases if you're just a hobbyist as they allow less room for cool basing ideas with the only advantage being you can get more guys into a close combat.

Again, the HOUSE rules for one tournament may be different than another, so telling someone to use the base found on a different model if he wants to play in tournaments will not always be permitted depending on the organizer.
And while there are no rules for bases in friendly games, abusing that will almost certainly guarantee that you won't be able to find said 'friendly' games.

Sometimes people feel that too much base takes away from the model. Several old miniature lines are designed around that- just enough base to (barely) stand up (though often its also about minimizing material costs as well).
Rather than 'cool basing ideas' there can be a legitimate desire to have the model dominate.

There are no base size requirements by GW in 40k.
Anyone who hosts a game, i.e. you, a friend, a tournament organizer, etc... has the final say on what is acceptable for that particular game.
1) You may let a friend use Terminators on 28mm bases.
2) Another friend may not let your friend play his with 28mm Terminators.
3) A Tourney Organizer may be fine with your friend's 28mm Terminators.
4) Another Tourney Organizer may not be fine with your friend's 28mm Terminators.
Be careful when getting advice from people who collectivize concepts and rationalize an answer unmoored from reality.
I used Blasted Horizon's Base Size graph, link posted earlier in the thread. There is also a base size blog here on Dakka, of which I don't have the link, that I use on occasion.
Have fun!

Too fast - multiple major and super major in the UK are fine with the model being on the base it was supplied with.

Seconded I can't think of any major or supermajor in the uk that would object to the original base size with the exception of the LGT
And they only specify that "vintage models" need to be updated to the current base size ( that only covers models that have a newer model)
Again it comes back to reasonableness if broadly speaking you are representing the model appropriately you are ok.

What happens at ITCLVO if you bring Broadsides (the original ones) on their original 40mm bases?
