Soooo Hive Nexus…

The exact phrasing is “If manifested, select one friendly LEVIATHAN unit within Synaptic Link range of this PSYKER and select one Synaptic Imperative ability of a friendly LEVIATHAN SYNAPSE model that is also within Synaptic Link range of this PSYKER. Until the start of your next turn, that unit benefits from that SYNAPSE model’s Synaptic Imperative ability as if it was active for your army (in addition to the one that is currently active for your army) and as if they were within 6" of one another.”

Now, I use Hive Nexus on a model with SYNAPSE, does the Synaptic Imperative ability stretch out like a bubble from that unit?

Example:

I choose Tyranid Warriors’ Synaptic Imperative Ability Goaded to Slaughter. Then, I cast Hive Nexus from my Neurothrope onto the Warriors, choosing a nearby Zoanthrope unit to extend Warp Shielding to them.

Now, Hive Nexus says “Until the start of your next turn, that unit benefits from that SYNAPSE model’s Synaptic Imperative ability as if it was active for your army”.

Warp Shielding says: “While this Synaptic Imperative ability is active for your army and a friendly HIVE TENDRIL unit is within 6" of this SYNAPSE model:
MONSTER models in that unit have a 4+ invulnerable save.
Models (excluding MONSTER models) in that unit have a 5+ invulnerable save.”

So, does this mean while the Warriors are affected by Hive Nexus, they are also extending a Warp Shielding 6” bubble outward from themselves, not just benefiting from the bonus themselves?

No, due to the wording "select one" and "that unit benefits from that SYNAPSE model’s Synaptic Imperative ability as if it was active for your army (in addition to the one that is currently active for your army) and as if they were within 6" of one another.”

Only "that unit benefits" from the ability (the one that was selected).

Fair enough. I think it probably should've been worded something like, "disregard the first line in the chosen Synaptic Imperative." and there would be no confusion. The "that unit" could get easily lost when thinking of an encapsulated ability like Synaptic Imperatives. They're sort of like a set of abilities within an ability and Hive Nexus tells you to extend the [parent] ability to THAT unit, not the [child] abilities within the parent, so a little convoluted.
