Hello everybody! So i recently picked up an OCtarius box and had a fantastic time building the orks. I have a Scions army, and i was looking at buying a different faction comopletely, and i always liked the orks. I put this list on battlescribe for a 1000pts army list

This is my perspective as a competitive player, so tweak it to your own liking: 1. Proper killy is OK with armor of contempt, but I'd probably take ard as nails instead on a mega boss. 2. Drop da jump on the weirdboy. WC7 makes it horribly unreliable and good opponents will just screen the unit. Take fist/warpath and consider putting cybork body on the weirdboy so he doesn't die to random damage. 3. Normal boyz are pretty awful. If you're taking boyz make them beast snagga. 4. In this list give the grots the orrible gitz subkultur. Gives them obsec at no cost to you. 5. Just take all klaws on the dread (magnets are your friend on the dreads and kans). Better synergy with Goff. 6. I'm sorry to say but lootas are just terrible, they really do no damage. If you haven't already assembled them build them as burna boyz instead. If you're looking to expand in the future here are units generally taken in a Goff/melee ork list: Squighogz, Meganobz, Ghaz, Battlewagons.

Thanks! I have not bought anything yet, that's why i was building a list just so i can have the most for my money. I was wondering, maybe i need to completely overhaul the list? Change to freeboters and maybe get a patrol instead of a batallion so i can have a unit of 20 boys. I would mostly usew them for obsec and nothing much more, they are there just to stay behind

Broadly speaking there have been two archetypes for Orks: melee (typically Goffs) and shooty (typically Speed Mob these days but previously it was all Freebootaz). If you want to go a with a shooty style of orks it's really an entirely different set of units that are good: the various buggies, wazbom blasta jets, mek gunz etc.
Even if Freebooterz I wouldn't value boyz very much. They have the 1 CP strat to make any FB infantry obsec so it's better spent on stormboyz, kommandos, etc. and just use grots to fill out troop slots as needed.

What about this? I'd like to use the weirdboy to teleport the Meganobz 9" close to an enemy unit for a charge, keep the Dread and cans for a tellyporta stratagem, use the boys mostly for screening and obsec. Warbikers and koptas to harass enemy models
I know it isn't very competitive, but something about a giant scarp robot charging a unit and cutting them up is so goddam cool

What benefit do Snaggas have over regular Boys?
Goffs gives them S5 on the charge, while Snaggas go from S5 to S6, which is a much less important breakpoint.

Beastsnaggas have a 6+ invul save, while regular boyz basically have no save. Also the
S5 helps if they are in melee other than charging.
