Hello there commanders,

My warhound titan is nearing completion and I'm contemplating what weapons to print.

Initially I was considering the inferno gun in one arm and the laser destructor in the other.
That way I'd have some anti infantry and some anti titan.

With the recent armour of contempt rule I'm wondering if the inferno gun will really cut it against T4 and T5 AoC infantry models.
Wouldn' t the plasma blastgun be a much better and more versatile weapon instead?

So, my question is. How do you outfit your warhound.
There's no need to tell me that the warhound is completely non-competitive, I've allready figured that one out

In My Lab

Inferno Gun
14 hits on average
28/3 wounds against a T4-6 target
56/9 failed saves against an AoC 3+ target

Plasma Blastgun
7 shots on average
14/3 hits at BS 3+
70/18 or 35/9 wounds at 2+ to-wound
175/54 failed saves against an AoC 3+ target

Or, put another way, you'd looking at killing 6 MEQ or Gravis with the Inferno, while only killing 3 with the Plasma, and potentially taking Mortal Wounds to do so.

Against bigger targets... Let's check against a Knight (T8 3+/5++). I don't know how reliable their 4++ is anymore, but either way, they're saving on their Invuln with both guns.

Inferno
14 hits
14/3 wounds
28/9 failed saves
28/3 or 9.33 damage

Plasma
7 shots
14/3 hits
28/9 wounds
56/27 failed saves
224/27 or 8.30 damage normal, 280/27 or 10.37 damage overcharge

Inferno just seems better. Especially since it doesn't degrade with your BS.

Just for fun...

Turbolaser
4 shots
8/3 hits
20/18 or 10/9 wounds
20/27 failed saves
130/27 or 4.81 damage

Even if you take away the invuln, it still only does 65/9 or 7.22 damage to a T8 or less, 3+ or worse, no invuln target.

I'd give it Dual Inferno Guns.

Wow, thanks for mathhammering that!

I really didn't expect that outcome tbh.
It's the autohit and large number of shots that really sells the inferno gun yes.

Stil a bit worried about the 24" range being quite limited, but there's also the warhound's movent to add to that I guess.

I suppose I'll be printing two Inferno guns then

Neither did I.

Like… did GW not do the most basic of math to see that it’s lopsided as hell?

What you should do is:
•Print two of each weapon.
•Build your model so that the weapons are interchangeable.

CCS, you are of course very right.
My printer however seems to have been infected with scrapcode or is perhaps a disguised man of iron.
Lately most of my prints are failing and especially larger pieces, like guns, seem to get sabotaged somehow :/

The other bonus for the infernos...overwatch. Something will want to charge you. It will take some hurt on the way in...

For the greater glory of the Zoat Empire!

Completely agree. With no strategems to speak of, overwatch is your go to and an inferno gun can totally wreck a squad
