So, I’ve been slowly wanting to build a Space Sharks spezz marinex chapter cuz they seem interesting and I already run Custodes and Will be running a Grey Knights list so feth it lets add another melee army to the mix. Butttt I know very little about them lore wise aside from they recruit prisoners, their incredibly brutal , shark dad wears dreadnought bits mixed in with his terminator armor and they look sharks…does anyone have links to books I could read that goes more into their lore? If there is such books…also their paint scheme seems to be grey and gold, which is pretty odd and basic anyone got a few painting tips or videos they can pm or leave in the chat that’ll help here. I might just paint them like aquamarine and gold but I’m like 70% sure that’s dark angels. Also is it known who their founding chapter is or where their gene seed comes from? I’ve heard different things saying Raven Guard or Dark Angels? But again idk. Finally, I wanna build them as Primaris as to my understanding they did get the Primaris upgrades and I like the models more, what should I buy to start toward this path? I know Dark Imperium was the go to for awhile and I do have the marines half of the marines/necron box set. Thanks in advance and happy war gaming!

Yeah, but I care very little about proper English writing structure when writing via phone. Way harder to do certain things and I’ll probably go back and restructure things later, no need to be and complete duck.

I started to do them until Emperor Spears came out and they are now RG only (I wanted basic melee marine that was not BA/DA/etc...)

1st test model, then Emperor Spears test models.

As for as Lore, read this https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Carcharodons

yes, to make things look pretty. But it has not impact on if something can be read or anwsered.

I read two books about the space sharks. Red Tithe and Outter Dark. Both were very good. They explain how the chapter operate, their history, the history of raven guard and their, I don't know what the word for it in english is, "non heretic renegades". They are heavily inspired by maori culture and different types of shamanism systems. There is no problem with running primaris, mix or just classic marines with them all is lore accurate. what is really interesting about them, is that they have a huge number of archeotech and heresy era gear in use, and they often mix it. So just for looks, if you care about those, you could have primaris who wear mk3 helmets or have studs in their shoulder pads etc.

DI and/or a Indomitus would be a good way to start them.

I think this is a good tutorial to start converting your first shark marines.

No idea if they are still sold, but pdfs of it are flying all around the internet, so I have no doubt it shouldn't be hard to find.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

The two books Karol mentioned are the best starting point. 'Officially' they don't have Primaris yet, as they don't have Imperial supply lines - but Robbie MacNiven (who wrote the books) has said they will be getting them:

The Carcharadons are a Chapter that exists in self-imposed exile from the Imperium of Man, hunting enemies in the dark fringes of its territory. They recruit via the Red Tithe where they descend upon a planet and take all its inhabitants as slaves or aspirants for the Chapter, a rite given to them upon their founding. They obtain wargear and supplies through a pact with the Adeptus Mechanicus known as the Grey Tithe where the Carcharadons trade archeotech found on the outskirts of Humanity's domain with the priests of Mars.

The Chapter does indeed have access to the Primaris technology as of the 9th Ed Marine Codex and this is their colour scheme:
Spoiler:

For painting it depends on whether you want to follow the GW scheme seen in the Marine Codex as featured above with dark grey primary and black secondary scheme or the Forge World scheme seen in the Badab War campaign books with light grey primary and darker grey secondary scheme:

Here's a couple of videos with possible methods:

Novels to read would be Robbie MacNiven's Red Tithe and Outer Dark, and IIRC there was another due to be released but I can't find it anywhere.

I like your paint style on that I’ll have to look more into it. My test paint job ended up looking realll wonk. And thanks!

I guess having a pic in the Codex beats whatever the author says...

There's a few short stories (Death Warrant, Reaping Time) but the third novel has been delayed IIRC.

I mean he said they'd get Primaris and they have Primaris. The novel series was set prior to the Rift and the Codex is after so there's no problem with timelines.
I did make a slight error as the Carcharadons (and a few other FW Chapters) are featured in the 9th Ed Codex, not the 8th.

Also, OP I recommend reading the Carcharadons Lexicanum page as its much better curated and laid out than the Fandom Wiki.

The Sharks get supplies from the ad mecha on a regular basis. If they can be supplied termintor armour, tanks etc and they still pay the gene seed tax, it is not hard to imagine they would get stuff to make primaris too. And they are shown in the books to take thralls, so the ad mecha specialists that operate the primaris making machines would just have to stay on ship and mass produce primaris.
