Did they just change the Hornets weapons loadout to only Hornet Pulse Lasers?

It's not in blue so it was probably updated a while ago. Should state in their entry if they can be upgraded with anything else apart from Pulse Lasers.

Looks like they just added relevant keywords to Knights units. Typical.

Given this seems to be in response to the release of the IK and CK books... were you expecting anything else, other than what's needed to make the units function with the new books?

No. I fully expect that the only updates that we can expect for the units in the Compendium in any FAQs to be updates to keywords and basic faction rules as the various 9th edition codexes corresponding to those units are released, as that's all that they've been doing for some time. Thus "typical".
