I'm solidly in the "absolute love it" camp...

But that is probably why this is an upgrade option (and not even that strong an upgrade option, which is deliberate) for a ship that otherwise looks pretty normal.

The statue is optional, you can build it with a regular bridge

Union is on the move with a new box for march, and it is the air that is the focus now with the Destiny sky fortress. It is a bit of clunker, again unusual design route that sets it apart from any other game but not in a bizarre way, but atleast now you can make a full union blimp air force when combining with eclipse company.

We allso get the remaining models from the fortune and glory 2p as seperate box sets.(Merchant Convoy Squadrons and Sultanate Aerial Squadrons)

Love all the work you've put into the glowing and lenses!

Also I saw a comparison shot for size and that is a really big model too - one huge chunk of resin that's bigger than some of the dreadnought ships

Anyone know if there were ever 2.5 rules for the Merchant ships released? They don't have a PDF for them with the rest on the Warcradle blog.

You mean the current edition (nominally 3.x)?

They're coming out in the upcoming campaign supplement along with, fetching finally, rules for Landing Vessels and Ground Assault Tokens.

No, I mean Spartan 2.5.

Hi folks,
I'm looking at getting into Dystopian Wars. I have some ships ready for painting, but I delayed quite a bit as I knew that 4th edition was on the horizon.

What's the status of the game right now? What is 4th ed like? Any tips for a new player / collector?

All the OrBats are out of Beta, but many of them are launch OrBats, so you can get a good feel for the game and the fleet mechanics, but aren't quite as snazzy.

I like the new edition a lot. SRS are useful to have, but not the one-shotting monsters of 3rd.
The new mechanics for critical damage and crippled status took some getting used go at first, but it's now quite smooth to play with.

The only things that still need to be fixed imho are some units shooting with insanely large dice pools and a better unit card system that explains all those keywords and systems well, although members of the community have made some pretty good ones.

I have a bunch of Imperial Japanese from the first edition. Still usable or have they been made obsolete./unusable by the newer editions of the game?

When you say first edition do you mean first edition under Spartan Games or under Wayland?

If under Spartan Games then a good many newer ships are about 1 class bigger than they were in the past. So an old Battleship is closer to a modern cruiser. Some you can certainly use; the ship length and weapon loadouts are fairly simplistic and the core parts of the game. So if they line up well you can use them as counts-as.

If under Wayland Games they have shifted ship classes around a bit. Mostly in the Cruisers in reducing the number of options a bit since they got a little wild with them. Most have decent enough equivalents in the new rules or would be easy to tell on the game table. A few named variations have also vanished for the resin ships, but are often compatible as they are just regular versions of those large models now
