Howdy their, I've mentioned this before privately to the mod team to pass on to admins, and in a short-lived, and ultimately seemingly forgotten thread, but I figured I'd actually put another mention in on N&B.

Repeatedly, I have found that, despite having my pronouns displayed in my sig, this is often overlooked. Now, this is most likely due to sigs being optional, and many users not having them turned on. However, when things like post count, nationality, and date joined are all visible, why shouldn't optional pronoun signifiers?
Would it be possible to create an additional field in the user information box on the left hand side to accommodate for an optional pronouns section, much like location?

Yes - optional. I don't advocate for forcing all users to *need* to add that, in the same way that location remains optional - however, by providing that feature, it would go some way in normalising and supporting the use of both standard and non-standard pronouns, as well as hopefully removing instances of mis-address.

Like I said before, would this be too much to ask for?

I'm not opposed to the idea... though I doubt it'll stop people using the wrong pronouns as I doubt people are going to check that even if it's in the user information box.

I view this site 90% on mobile, and there are no signatures on the mobile version of the website. Could also be part of the issue you're experiencing is not that folks have turned off signatures, it's just not available in the format they view the site.

Not a bad idea though.

Also, another barrier is that when you're typing a reply, you don't have access to any information about the users other then their username, so the issue could persist where folks are quoteing/replying and can't see your profile.

Mobile devices default to the 'Mobile Friendly' theme. They do have an option to switch to one of the four other themes for which signatures may be available but on smaller screens the other themes do tend to clutter things up.
