Been working on a bit of a festive narrative for a game later this evening. It's written for Aeldari vs Drukhari (all the elves...) but you can easily apply it to any two armies in an 'attacker/defender' style.
Let me know what you think!
Mission Name:
Battle of the Poles
Backstory:
For many years, a small Aeldari outpost has secretly resided on Earth as the sworn protectors of the North Pole. While their cast-out counterparts, the Drukhari have dwelled in the South Pole ever since their banishment centuries ago. While the Aeldari have prospered, using their vast knowledge of technology to better themselves and their icy home, the Drukhari have not, and have watched in envy as their resources have slowly depleted.
For hundreds of years, The Drukhari have plotted their revenge, and their time is now...
The Drukhari (attacker) plan is a simple one…
1. Kill the Farseer that commanded their Banishment.
2. Take back the Pole from which their race once came.
3. Cut down any Aeldari citizen that stands in their way.
The Aeldari (Defender) must protect their home in the best way they know how.
1. Finish the job they started. Banishment isn’t enough, their warlord must be killed.
2. Stop the Drukhari from attacking the shrines across the Pole.
3. Kill any Drukhari traitor that dares to stand against them.
Mission is Scored as follows.
1) Kill the opposing warlord: 15 points.
Once killed the affected army suffers -1 leadership for the remainder of the game.
2) At the start of the game, all objectives belong to the Aeldari (Defender). Drukhari (attacker) must Perform an action on each objective to claim it by completing an action at the end of movement. Once claimed, the Aeldari can try to claim it back. Drukhari actions complete same turn. Aeldari actions complete at start of next command phase.
Objectives are numbered 1-5, increasing in value as they near the Aeldari deployment. At the end of the game, each objective is worth the corresponding number of points to the player that controls them.
3) Each destroyed unit is worth 2 points.
Special Rules:
“Check it Twice”
At the start of each players own command phase roll a D6. On a 5+ gain one additional command point.
“Naughty List”
If a unit successfully kills the opposing Warlord, it is placed on the Naughty List. All attacks which target that unit explode one additional hit on hit rolls of 6.
“Secret Santa”
Each player secretly nominates one unit (excluding troop choices) and notes it down. Once per game, that unit can declare Secret Santa. For that phase, all attacks deal 1 mortal wound in addition to normal damage (to a max of 6 mortal wounds).
