This model started as a quick side-project then became a major distraction from my SoH starter army. The build is now basically done, apart from some minor detailing and cleaning up.

The idea was to back-date a Shadowsword to the Heresy era, which involved removing features such as the shrine thing on the back. I reasoned that Horus would have been able to acquire the basic vehicles from the AM, then his Techmarines would have upgraded them. I would have liked to replace the tracks with something more like the smooth-faced tracks on Heresy tanks, but I thought of that too late. ‘Legionising’ the vehicle meant adding lots of Marine-style details from the HH vehicle sprue (the Shadowsword superstructure has a lot of rather pointless detail which got removed in the process). And, since it’s a Traitor tank, all the aquillae had to be removed (except those on the tracks, for the reason mentioned), and replaced with SoH icons.

The weapons were all replaced with Heresy versions (the lascannon in the sub-turrets had to lose the little sight thingy on the top in order to fit). The heavy bolters came from the Contemptor sprue; they fit rather well. The Havoc launcher and missile are just for show - I know they are useless. I also replaced the headlights with suitable Marine-y versions, and gave the front hull gunner a hatch so I could put another Marine there. I used Repulsor stowage boxes as they seem fine for this era, and they help break up all the large flat surfaces.

My Shadowsword progresses slowly. The first coat of primer showed up some issues (as per usual), so more filling and sanding was needed (especially on the sponsons). But a couple of coats of SoH Green made a difference. I have to start the weathering on the wheels and tracks.

Could always try the crodax rules and just use an AT scaled shadowsword
