Has anyone tried something like this to clean mini before pruning them or to remove paint after soaking them in some sort of paint solvent?

If not do you think it would work?

Doesn't look a whole lot different than my Ultrasonic cleaner, which I use all the time. I don't often strip models, but it works great for removing mold release with just water and a tiny amount of degreaser (e.g. Simple Green).

I have an ultrasonic cleaner that I use in my stripping miniatures workflow. I'm not entirely sure it does a lot for the process.

First I leave the miniatures in some old Simple Green for about 24 hours. Then I take them out and put them in the ultrasonic cleaner filled with water. I constantly run it while I'm working to brush off as much paint as I can from an individual mini. I don't really know how much work the ultrasonic cleaner does to remove the paint, but it heats up the water nicely at least so the paint is more rubbery.

It's great for metal minis but it has hard time shaking the paint off plastic models. Just the nature of how the machine works.

At best, it helps get the lifting going so you can scrub it better.

Hmmmm I gues plastic doesn’t resonate like metal so it doesn’t have the same effect.

I might try it anyway it looks like a fun gadget to have in the house.

Thanks

I think the plastic is too light and just drifts around in the liquid. I've got some plastic minis in mine at the moment and they're not really doing much so far. Might try weighting them down slightly so they make better contact with the base of the cleaner...

That’s a good point, they always advertise that these are good for cleaning glasses/spectacles which are very light and often plastic
