For Chaos but specifically Word Bearers they lack shooting potential.

I was thinking a 5 person legionaries Balefire Prescience holding a back area objective and casting prescience on a 5 person 4x havoc lascannon To use that 48” range at 2+ hit 9S wound -3AP 1d6x4 damage or on a 3x Obliterator squad. That might be closer mid level within the 18” range.

Any thoughts?

If you want shooting potential for Word Bearers, I'd recommend going the Obliterator route.

I like to take 2 Squads with Tome for the Psy Actions, one with Infernal Gaze ans Second with Precience. You can always use the Psy Power on another unit than the caster and having it somewhere midboard is nice, although Smite ends up the better pick in 80% of cases

Only Characters can do psychic actions like Ritual and Interrogate and the book won't make you one.
Gaze on them is ok but due to their lowish movement and short range Diabolic Strenght is probably better as it can have a "surprise" effect when casted on the Champion/Axe guy, especially from turn 3 onward which is usually when they get to fight (if they get to fight at all)

It's always the little things that go unnoticed isn't. Definitely didn't realize that psych int was restricted to characters. So, no rubric marine casts of that one! (Which was on my mind as a potential option for an upcoming tourney) So thank you!
