Hey!!

I love painting its the main reason im in the hobby. Having said that, im going to the Kansas US Open soon and need to finish my 2k points of tau. Im doing a white scheme with pink and green for the detail colors.

Does anyone have advice for painting volumes on white quickly? I painted shadow sun with volumes but that took around 100ish hours, because I has to slowly build up from black and glaze to white to create a NMM affect. Im looking for a quicker way to add volumes on white which will take less time, anyone have advice?

Further more, does anyone have any advice for making Tau look good? Im used to painting with shadows and highlights and such, but that is super difficult on these flat panels? Any other way to add depth and make it look professional?

We protect other species because humans themselves are lonely creatures. We protect the environment because humans themselves don’t want to go extinct. What drives us is simply self-gratification. But I think that’s fine, and that it’s really all there is to it. There’s no point in despising humans by human standards. That’s right. So in the end, it’s hypocritical for us to love Earth without loving ourselves.

If you need to do it fast, then depth is likely going to suffer. Just the way things go with white.

Have you tried contrast paints for speed?

As far as adding depth to white, you wind up needing some off-white and very pale grey or eggshell (if you want a cold or warm white). Base in grey or eggshell, layer off-white, leave pure white for the edge highlights. But that's time-consuming. Maybe contrast, clean up the panels with off-white, and edge highlight pure white would be fast enough?

Thanks so much for the advice, I figured out im going to base with a light green/blue and build up to a white so it creates a calmer tone

I posted on this the other night but it doesn't seem to be here any more.

Doing it that way will take ages. There is no way of doing white quickly, at least not if you want it to look any good.

My best advice would be to pick an off white (deck tan would be my go to here)with a good coverage, then do a few basic highlights using ivory or white.

Im going for something similar to this. I started by priming grey, aibrushing on a grey/blue/green color and then build up with white highlights
