Yes, epic is 6mm-ish. Basically, I'm playing 40k using epic pieces. For multi-model bases, you'll need to use a counter or roster card or something to keep track of how many figures are left.

One thing I've been thinking of is using both the vehicles from Risk 40K (which are considerably smaller scale than the vehicles, perhaps only a little larger than 6mm) and the infantry (which are probably true 15mm) in the same battles, but with the infantry representing a fire team each, while the vehicle is a single vehicle.

If memory serves, some edition of 40k (or was it Adeptus Titanicus?) said that the tabletop battles were themselves supposed to be the representations of the holotanks generals might use as representations of the ongoing battle, so they could observes the fighting and send orders to their subordinate commanders.

Sounds pretty cool to me, and it would allow an expansion of a company level fight into battalion level.
