Hey all,

Sorry if this an obvious and daft question to all you regular 40k hobbyists but…

Will the recent Lion El’Jonson model get reprinted soon or are these primarchs generally a one off print?

I will be buying Leviathan (first 40k set) later in the year and have decided on Dark Angels as my faction. Obviously I have looked to purchase The Lion in anticipation but looks like he sold out almost immediately; which I understand is an ongoing problem.

Anyway, how does this generally pan out? Will he just be released in a couple of months?

Thanks

He will be released on his own in the near future. I imagine it will be 2 or 3 months since they're going to be very busy with the new edition release.

I am a newb myself, but if you're new to 40K then I don't think there's any real need to rush out and by a Primarch or any other ultra-powerful lone figure.

See the "issues with Korn" thread for an example as why not.

Add to that, you might not even like the game. Or ... you might like it but decide you want some other Space Marine chapter, or you might decide you want some entirely different army all together.

I recently started painting my first 40K army. I'm almost finished the first unit of 10 marines - which has been about 30 hours work so far ... and already second-guessing my choice. I probably should have gone with Chaos instead ...

My advice there is always buy the faction you like the look of the most.

Why are you second guessing your marines though?

Yes. You will be able to buy the Lion in the future.

Whether the Lion comes with the unit of Bladeguard or the art prints when re-released is another matter entirely.

Why are you second guessing your marines though?

A few reasons really. Mostly, I don't like this whole nuovo-marine Primaris, the-same-but-even bigger! thing very much. The lore is silly and forced and the models are too big. Yes, I know most of the Primaris are still on 32mm bases (one size too big already for my liking), but the whole range (e.g. terminators) seems to be getting up-sized (again). And yes, I know they're 8+ feet tall in power armour, so the size "makes sense", but they never needed to be 8+ feet tall in the lore, and are only so to justify action-figure sized models. Also, I want to be a bit original and space marines are the most common army. Lastly, I just kind of think the Emporer is a psychopathic, hypocritical, authoritarian narcissist. That's the whole point lore-wise and no great secret, I know. But Chaos seems more my thing personally (freedom!). I basically bought them (regular tactical squad) because I loved the contemptor dreadnought model and needed an army to go with it, and now it seems they're going to be soon obsoleted.

Anyway, I've almost finished painting that squad now, and I will finish the entire army (albeit a small 500pt one). Then I'll decide if I want to start a new one or expand that one.

My point to the OP was to go slow. No reason to rush out and buy one of the biggest, baddest most powerful character unit for an army (that ideally should be a large army before you even field him) before you've even recieved & painted a single unit of basic troops. My advice would be to start slow with a small force and expand from there if you still want to play them.

Not really. New kit in discount box first limited and then on own later without discount is standard.

Will come on his own.

Might be shortly before 10th actually. We have 2 more preorders to cover before 10th. If not there then def much later.

Does anyone remember how long it took for the triumvirates to come out as single models, after they were released initialy as trip pack? I know I waited for plastic Voldus for so long that GW stopped sending him to FLGS.

But Chaos seems more my thing personally (freedom!).

If you are in to freedom, then maybe Dark Eldar should be more your focus. There is a reason why chaos followers in w40k and AoS are called "slaves to darkness". Not much freedom for chaos worshipers and for god dedicated marines the chain is even shorter.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

Yeah, I briefly considered it. Just not a massive fun of the hardcore torture-porn theme.

I think my next army will be Chaos - marine or demons - with a heavy Tzeentch slant. Or maybe even Tyranids.

Anyway, apols for thread-jacking.

Nah, much worse and less entertaing threads went for far longer then this. Plus , I like to hope this, you are not 5000pts in to primaris, so a change to chaos or something else will not be soul killing.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

IN regards to freedom: Lorewise, yeah yeah, but from a modelling standpoint the only armies that are freedom to really kitbash and make messes are chaos or orks.... ask me how many chaos I have that I never plan to put on a table

I don't want the best army, just one that isn't an exercise in picking up my models by turn 3.

It doesn't matter if you're not dominating the game; if you have 3-4 x as many models and options than the rest of us and you're still getting new kits, we're still gonna rip on the faction. If I had 100 + Drukhari kits all in plastic to choose from, or 100 + Sisters kits, I think I'd be more likely to be receptive to Space Marine player's complaints about anything.

Since this is related: Are there any educated guesses as to when Farsight will be released separately? It seems he is not available at all currently, as the Tau boarding patrol is sold out.

Low Lands

I did ask on the facebook page about there being a general release. They replied the Lion would be released within a few weeks.
But GW times are like the Warp, you never know when and where it is.

You didn't need to ask, the initial release article said that this was a limited run bundle.

So if you have a question that's been answered at some point in the past, and don't realize it's been answered (or know where to look), are you not allowed to ask the question?

From my expiriance online the anwser is always yes. You will know the abriviations, builds of at least last 3 editions for most armies and how they did in certain part of the world metas. MMOs of long lasting are plagued by this, where everyone expects you to know the fights day one , because you of course took part in the beta or at least followed it. You know all the short cuts, tricks and tactics, and running 20+ outside sources to do exactly the thing. And if someone say turn your X, Y and Z for next fight, you are expected to know next fight and have X, Y and Z, even if this is your first 48 hours of playing.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

Additionally that didn't answer the question. Will the Lion Be Reprinted is not the same as "Will this limited run bundle be reprinted" nor has it been unheard of for popular demand to lead to limited run bundles being reprinted - like that Indomitus box.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.
