Do you think a chapter of 11 IQ Ogryns could have navigated their way around the World Engine in time to destroy it?

In fact, how do you get around the fact that Ogryn are so incredibly stupid that they are pants-shittingly terrified of sitting in a chimera? How do you plan to drop pod them into combat, which is one of the most iconic and best uses of Marines in the lore?

I got to looking at this image again, and then starting looking at Terminators in general. Is it just me or do Termies have no necks?

I think the more interesting question is how much do they weight in armor? I'm guessing an unarmored Marine weighs around 400LBS, whats the armor weight and gear weigh? 200,300,400? They don't even have to punch people, just fall over on them.

According to the Deathwatch core rulebook an armour Astartes weighs between 500-1,000 kilograms, or 1,100-2,200 pounds. In the game standard power armour weighs 180 kg, so unarmoured a marine would weigh 320kg, or about 700 pounds, as the baseline. This also incidentally fits with Space Marine's strategy guide saying Titus weighs 750 pounds.

Well, I think the idea is that the armor extends above and behind their shoulders and completely protects their heads, though the issue is that on the models their arms are not in the right spots.

Either their arms are disloated and floating above their heads OR their heads are in the middle of their chests. This can be fixed if you lower the location of their arms a bit, but its still awkward.

There is also the issue the armor is too wide when compared to standard Power Armor.

I recall the reference to "equine" in Horus Rising in reference to space marine looks. Maybe as they age the neck gets heavier and juts forward even more horse-like, and those marines become Terminators.

Terminator Armor has the wearer hunched forward a bit, much of that high-back torso is the power plant that would normally be in the standard marines back pack.

According to the old 2nd edition Angels of Death Codex, power armour weighs over 250lbs.

I guess things have embiggened since then.

Well, 180kg is over 113kg (250Ib). Seems in the same ballpark to be honest.

When they interviewed the designer of the new abaddon model he said he used it a a chance to prove to his brother that a normal shaped human could fit in terminator armour.

When you build the model it has his regular human shaped torso and you add the armour around it, it’s really cool if you haven’t built it, I suggest you do. And he managed to make it fit but lots of the panels are on supports to get them in the right place. I always thing with terminator armour rule of cool wins, the finished product is so iconic I can forgive it been more suited to ORKS physiques.

This.

If there is one thing that really boils my piss with all these people that "reimagine" Marines or Termies is they always seem to forget (beyond the iconicness of the silhouette trumping everything IMO), is that those are shoulderPADS. Not their actual shoulders. They are wearing inches thick armour and will have some pretty big shoulders anyway. But, Every. Single. Time. Without fail you see these DeviantArt pieces, where they put the shoulders now so low they might as well be wearing tinfoil as armour.

^That's actually really cool that they did that for the Abaddon model. Had to check that out.

And yeah, that's a regularly proportioned "human" with big-ol Terminator armor over him. Props to the designer.

I like that it settles an argument he’d had with his brother when they were little kids too.

Found the interview.

It is also an exaggerated version of historical precedent for armour, in that armpits are a notable weak point for both improved articulation and because armpits are relatively protected by the arm above.
