With the launch of 10th I have really been getting into bugs. I bought Leviathan and the book was great. I’m thinking Ascension next but my question to y’all is, are there any really good Tyranid books that you would suggest?

Desert Raiders from 2007 is about Imperial Guard (Tallarns) fighting against Tyranids.

More recently the Warzone Octarius books contain some good fluff on this subject.

There was also the Shield of Baal campaign books some years ago, Blood Angels vs Tyranids.

Fall of Malvolion is also a great Tyranid short story.

Devastation of Baal and Warriors of Ultramar are also some classic SM vs Nid.

For the GSC side, Day of Ascension is great and a must, in addition Cast a Hungry Shadow and Cult of Spiral Dawn (the first one is a short story prelude to the second).

Seconding both Day of Ascension and Cult of the Spiral Dawn. There was a Tyranid omnibus printed a while ago with a bunch of stuff but I'm not sure if its still in print.

Not a novel but imperial armour IV - the anphelion project has some great tyranid fluff if you can find it

It’s very hard to beat Devastation of Baal for a good Tyranid book. It’s excellent.

I recently started reading Valedor too which focuses on Eldar vs Nids, it’s also very good.

Just ignore the nonsensical numbers.

I do a lot of driving so I do audio books. I just finished Leviathan and it was really good. I think I’m going to do Baal next because it’s highly recommended. I never rly got the whole Blood Angel thing but maybe the book will do them justice.

Nonsensical numbers? It has been awhile since I read IA4.

Ehh I'd say it doesn't really and the ending is anti-climactic, but there's a good third of the book that really hammers home the hopelessness of fending off a Tyranid invasion.

Xenology also has some Tyranids' stuff but it is an old, out of print background book, and thus hard to find/expensive.

Imperial Armor is classic "writers are not engineers, scientists, nor physicists".

Take any technical numbers in such books with salt, a lot of it.

Fair. I noticed IA started moving away from hard numbers over time. I think they realised that.

Is Devestation of Baal better than Leviathan?
