Are there any pics of the minis that come with the core game? Strangely the only preview that includes them in the overall shot is a low res far away view of the components. They look like alternate pose sculpts of the figs in the seperate Heroes box but it's hard to tell.

We updated the page with a close up of the PVC minis you get in the box :-)

Thanks! The figs look good.

Spoiler:

Having gotten their plastics from the Skyrim board game, the detail will likely be pretty decent as well. Obviously not wargame quality HIPs but surprisingly solid and crisp compared to the majority of board game miniatures (though there's a broad range of quality there).

Whilst we're here, might as well point out the Giant for Elder Scrolls getting its release:

Apparently going to be a limited run of these for some reason so worth picking up if it's of interest. Hopefully that reason isn't them dropping support for Call to Arms given there's never any actual communication about that game beyond 'here is new model' and the current known release slate is pretty much done apart from (finally) the rules for Chapter 4 stuff.

Modiphius are also running a Summer sale at the minute too and a lot of stuff is up for very good prices.

My biggest concern would be priming the models. I thought I had picked a good working spray primer based on reviews for PVC models (CMON ASOIAF ones specifically to be clear) to avoid stickiness and it worked... for about a month or two and then the chemical reaction came through to the surface. This was my first experience trying to prep PVC models and it didn't go well. The reviews on youtube were correct in that the primer wasn't *IMMEDIATELY* sticky unlike the other primers.

For those looking to paint PVC models, you may want to use brush on primer or no primer at all instead.

It wasn't an issue for me with the Skyrim models to be honest. Primed as normal with no difficulties.

I've been using vinyl dye to prime PVC minis for a few years now and it's worked fantastic. I'd also had too many bad reactions with supposedly plastic-safe primers, or with primers that worked fine but were oil-based and therefore came off with oil/enamel washes. Primed and painted a few hundred minis last few years including CMON Zombicide and ASoIaF minis, they've all held up to some rough handling with no stickyness or paint flaking. Won't work on Modiphius' resin, but it'll work great on their PVC stuff

Gavin said it's just going to come back when there's slots to manufacture it much like Liberty Prime and the Mirelurk Queen. So, in my experience, a restock for con season.

The wind really got taken out of the sails for CTA unfortunately due to the rules drama and Modiphius ADHD where they're always shuffling to some new project to get those new game sales but really struggle with Wargames as they cannot be treated like RPGs and Boardgames this way. I sometimes think Fallout does well despite Modiphius efforts. Also doesn't help that they cannot keep up with Fallout manufacturing so they've clearly taken production time away from CTA which is a shame as it's a solid game -- but does suffer from an identity problem. Doesn't really do PVP the way PVP people tend to like and doesn't do the narrative stuff as well as other games Modiphius publishes (nor has FWW sandbox mentality) so it just kind of exists.

It would be a much more common game at my table, as my friends all loved the rules, if it had character creation and a campaign system similar to 5 leagues from the borderlands for co-op play but every time we do play it as is people just complain about having to use random NPCs from the videogame most people don't recognize as their main hero (and I have friends with thousands of hours in Skyrim and they don't even know who half the people are) and no meaningful progression or campaign.

I'll have to look into that. I use brush on or airbrush generally but sometimes if I can find it Sugar spray-paint locally -- which is alcohol based and doesn't cause any reactions (but it's expensive).

Thanks as I wasn't aware of a vinyl specific one but I'll have to try that as well. Have you ever tested it as a quick coat on top of sticky already primed figs by chance?

I'd never even thought to try it over sticky figs, and it's been so long ince I switched over that I don't have any left to try it on. I've used PVA glue to seal some in the past and it's worked well enough, but now I'm curious about that

To prime pvc the most reliable I've found is the badger stynylrez primers. It works either with brush or airbrush, doesn't get as foamy as the Vallejo stuff and gives a nicer surface than the reaper primer.

So far Ive used it on the fallout pvc starter, a lot of reaper bones, zombicide, and battletech minis.

I think I've said it before, but following Fallout:WW has felt like enduring Modiphius learning how to release a wargame. And, sad to say, it feels like they've stopped learning and are trying to replicate their IP churn scheme they have in their RPGs. The Vault-Tec profiles and the Vault-Tec Simulator feel like baby steps in the right direction...but then they got distracted by Factions and stopped walking to crawl off in another direction.

I appreciate Fallout Factions as the PvP campaign skirmisher version of the game, but it's really time to assess, overhaul, and release a new edition of FO:WW. Something with fewer cards; the character creation and narrative campaign rules you mention; and maybe a touch more "build your own WYSISYG-lite models with weapon options" the new plastic kits are sort of hinting at, for those who enjoy the modelling aspect. (I see more and more CTA mini sets going up as STLS on MyMiniFactory. Maybe some basic troop/creature packs for Fallout like that, or at the very least, STL weapon/conversion packs for the old resin kits - maybe offerings like that would spice things up more than [sculptor's rendition of a statuette of game asset #479] style minis from the earlier waves.

Character and troop builder rules, solo/co-op narrative campaigns with character advancement, less card-reliant equipment/event rules, and more conversion options for miniatures supported by both the rules and the new plastics. Bundle those up with a pair of these new plastic faction core sprues, in a new edition box, and I won't even feel a hint of sunk-cost fallacy as I put my boxes and boxes of first edition cards into the storage house.

Tokens and the cardstock terrain from the Nuka World box are available as a separate set now. Raiders also have a themed dice set so hopefully that trend continues for all the main factions.
